I did a search and came up with varying answers to my questions.

I am thinking about a FASS system as I remember reading somewhere that 2-micron filtration can be had for these. Otherwise, I was thinking about plumbing in a 2-micron RACOR filtration since I already have a pusher pump.

Is the out-of-the-box FASS unit 10 or 2 micron?

Also, is the heater on it "plug-and-play" with the existing wiring harness or do you have to cut-and-splice engine coolant through it?

Lastly, has anyone experienced the FASS under off-road and cold weather duty? I. e. , roads where lots of gravel and rocks are spit up by the tires, snow/slush build-up, unit dying or reduced performance in cold weather?

If I do get a FASS, I will just plumb it through my stock fuel filter canister since I already have all the plumbing from there to the CP3 already, including the fuel pressure gauge tap.

Thanks!

It comes with either a DPP 10 micron microglass or a Fleetguard 3 micron microglass depending on which one you ask for or which model your retailer of choice happens to carry. Mine came with the Fleetguard 3 micron. Some have said there is a NAPA 2 micron available for it, but no one has ever been able to find proof that it is in-fact a 2 micron, or what it is for that matter. Could be a 16 micron for all we know.

I have driven around for months at a time with the FASS totally encased in a block of ice from the slush being kicked up on it, freezing, and building up. Never a problem.

The heater is not electric. You have to plumb coolant to it. I didn't care for that idea so I didn't use it.

The 95gph model will provide more than enough fuel for anything you can throw at it. The 150gph unit is just noisier and cavitates if you don't replace your pick-up tube. I went through two 150gph units before we finally figured out what it's problem was (problem being cavitation). My 95gph unit provides 13lbs of pressure at the CP3 at WOT with the mods in my signature. 15lbs at cruise. That is with the 3 micron filter and sucking through a Racor Nomad fuel heater between the FASS and the tank.

Here is the list of filters for it:

Hydraulic filters are designed to withstand much higher pressures. The filter media lasts longer under the higher flow/pressures than standard fuel filters. Less chance of the media breaking apart. Same media, just put together differently.

I have the hydraulic filters on mine. They work great, the fuel is absolutley cleanand clear when I take my monthly sample to check for trash. ;)
