Thank you for all the input.

Well, I did not purchase the truck. I will not reveal the dealer (out of state from my location), but here is what happened.

Truck was listed on the internet for for a reasonable price - given todays market. When it was time to actually do the numbers they jacked the price of the truck up to where it was $9k over MSRP. Lots of misc charges.

This is a used truck and I was not adding any accessories. I wanted it as shown. Salesman said (since I was out of state) he would be honest with me. He said they use AI to determine price and this morning it got jacked up due to sales and internet search inquiries over the weekend. An accessory charge was used to make up for loss of sales on other vehicles --- What?

Since I did not have a contract they were not going to budge. All the karma had left the room with these upcharge shenanigans, so I said no thanks.

I went to my local dealer and asked about this AI + charges thingy. First I got the Clint Eastwood looks from Hang'm High. You know, where they all stare at each other.

He said you may be better off ordering and it will be cheaper than a used one. I asked about his order status and he said at least 9- 12 months for an HO.

I guess the heavier 5th wheel will have to wait and I will keep using the 96'.

But, I will keep looking.

Better off for sure.

This '22 1500 I'm in will probably only have 4k miles on trade in, I'm awaiting my '22 HO 3500, its in shipping, the dealer called Friday said would be here this week. But the website says 10/26, so who knows, I tend to trust the website it's been very accurate based on the dealer updates.

Mine was ordered May 12th and shipped in mid Sept. I figured if I get it by end of year that's a win.

I picked up this '22 1500 as a hold over we needed 2 cars with car seats due to some circumstances beyond our control where one vehicle was not going to work for a few months. Hoping it's equal to not too much more then having the 3500 earlier in the year will see how it shakes out. The market is so far in the dump who cares I figure if it was sitting in any sort of investment account it would be +20% lower, so might as well enjoy something while losing some money. I doubt I will lose 20% of my total money spent if that makes any sense to anyone. Say the 1500 is $80k, my trade back in would need to be sub $64k to be worse then say the SP500 for the same period.

They build them quick once it's all ready if you look at the dates below.

Based on this 1500, I would have changed a few things but still happy with the build.

Dealer said 2500's are alot easier to get then these HO's but I was not in a rush and they built it exactly how I wanted it back in May.

My dealer is no + MSRP, and get all available rebates if any, also can get zero finance if available. This will be my 7th vehicle this year so it's been pretty good, no way I could do the over invoice deal doing that many vehicles.

Good luck on your search and decision.

I don’t know about AI specifically, but I do know that my dealership won’t post prices on the trucks because they are so volatile. The interest sales team sets the prices, so often the local salesmen don’t know you ask.

Bait and Switch. Leave a warning review for others on say Google.

X2 order N E W. Used, as you found, is higher due to “Can’t Wait. Shut up and take my money!” Before my money is worth even less than a used pickup!!!

Wait on 5th wheel till new pickup arrives as RV market is going down. Fuel prices are driving that.

Not to argue, okay maybe that's on me :), but my 2011 said Ram on the window sticker and said Dodge on the dash, thought that was the last year.

Nope 12 was. My dad had a 12 and upper center dash said DODGE as it legally had to say so somewhere thru model year 2012.

Probably depends on what parts they run out of along the way.
We've all seen those Ford Kentucky speedway deal, it's not good out there for sure. You never know.

Also double check all options when it arrives to make sure you get what you had listed on your order.
