4570...thank you, I love it when we can share solutions to issues like these. Would you have any pictures or possibly a write up you could do? My seat base is due in Friday night and "hopefully" I will get the chance to install it this weekend. If that all goes to plan I plan on seeing what it would take to repair my OEM mechanism and then document it here.
 
I fixed mine about 3 years ago and didn't take any pictures . The gears are moulded right on the shafts and the only thing that locks them on is a washer they stick welded to the end of the shafts and the irregular shape of the weld holds the molded gear in place . I used some super glue especially made for plastic to glue the gears back together and then JB welded the gears back on the shaft ends . It was a lot of work but it worked and is still holding up so far . There was some plate or something that holds some of the unit together that needs to be cut off .I didn't see any need for it other than to keep someone from taking it apart .
