Today I found a 2001 Ram 2500 QC, short bed 4x4,
white paint, agate int. , SLT Plus without the
leather seats, but it does have the trip computer.
The only option it does not have that I could tell
was the sliding rear window. It is a Cummins ETC
with 5 speed, 3. 55 limited slip, and has the HD
transfer case, camper group, trailer towing, fog
lights, air dam, heated mirrors (not the towing
mirrors).
They seem to be willing to sell it for dealer cost
and I *think* an additional $2,000 "rebate". I am
not sure of the interest rate, but Dodge has some
incentives with rates around 3. 9 to 5. 9 long term.
(My 3500 interest rate was 8. 25% for 5 years).
This truck has 1,400 miles on it. I did not get an
explanation as to why but it is still clean and
the plastic is still on the carpet. How much will
the 1,400 miles work in my favor for bargaining
on the price? The salesman was willing to knock
off 25 cents per mile, or about $325. Heck 1400
miles is a lot of miles. . or alot of test drives!
I think they said it was a "dealer trade".
I also test drove a 2001 2500 2wd, QC, long bed
with the ETH (HO) Cummins and 6 speed. I really
did not notice a difference in performance. They
both have 3. 55 gears. The ETH had 14 miles on it,
so I did not want to thrash it to see how strong
it was. I do not like the way the 6 speed shifts.
Good thing is, I still have the Power Edge 3 light
box from my 3500 I just sold a few weeks ago
so I could put that in the 2500 ETC and be back
in business with a set of Autometer gauges on the
pillar!
-Thanks for any comments!
