Hello all,

Well, I just got back from the local dealer after test driving a 2500 QC, Short-bed with HO/6-speed. These trucks are way nicer than past models. Can't say I was all that impressed with the 6-speed though. Anyway, here is the price I was quoted:

2003 Ram 3500 Quad Cab Short bed SRW 4x4

Laramie Package

HO Cummins

48RE Auto

Options (in addition to standard Laramie features):

1. Power adjustable pedals

2. Steering wheel mounted audio controls

3. Under rail bedliner

4. Limited slip rear

5. 4. 10:1 gears

6. HD snow plow prep

7. Trailer package

8. Heated seats

9. Two-tone paint ($600. 00 extra... truck is single tone Patriot Blue)

10. Trailer tow mirrors

MSRP: $44,300

Purchase: $39,468

The pre-tax purchase price includes the $1,500 factory rebate, $4,000 dealer discount and the addition of lower silver paint procedure. What do you think? Good, bad, average? The dealer does not have this truck, but it is in NY State, so the price also includes him sending someone to get it or having it shipped back here to NJ. I priced this vehicle out on Edmunds and they listed the invoice around 39,100 and a True Market Value of around $39,487.

Who cares, You know your going back down there and buying it anyway rite? ;)

In all seriousness, that sounds pretty good to me!

Is the dealer going to add the two tone paint?

Check Edmunds.com or dodge.com and build it, and you will see the dealer invoice price. if you order it, and can wait 8 week, about 1-200 under invoice should be possible, less the rebates. If you order off the lot, and can't wait, add a $1000 more.

Prairie Dog you must be just like me :D. No sooner had I left the dealer and driving home, I was thinking I should just call him and say go get it. Even my girlfriend (who kept telling me sell mine and buy the new one while we were out on the test drive) said I should go for it, so I probably will. Yup, the dealer is an authorized Dodge paint/collision repair facility and they will do the adding of the lower paint.

rmcnamee, the Power Pedals are Standard on the Laramie (at least last I checked). The rest of the options are separate items.

The best, easiest-to-use pricing guide I found is here. . . just punch in your zip code to get started.

ps I'm so proud of myself for figuring out how to make a clickable icon! :D

What about the $500 rebate from Farm Home Bureau, I think you must be a member for 30 days before purchase but is worth the time to ask the dealer what he can do for you.

rmcnamee,

I had a post going about two months ago about purchasing a new 3G ram. George Sellers, who posts under DodgeSales gave me some prices that the dealers in my area could not compete with or match his price. He gave the truck at invoice minus 2 thousand dollar rebate plus I went ahead and applied for the farm bureau to get an addition 500 dollars off. All in all, I was able to order the truck ab paid about 7k under msrp. The good thing is that you are in NJ and he is in PA, so he is close to you. His number is 1-800-382-1436. Give him a call and see what he can do for you.

IMHO TMV is BS and is probably sponsored by dealers - what's Edmunds motivation for creating such a thing anyway? I Got mine for $100 over invoice before rebates but it was not a haggle-free experience. For me it has become harder to negotiate new car prices over the last 15 years. I think the widespread publishing of invoice price may be ruining things (in a short time the whole world will want to buy at this level). Then the creative accountants will step in and you'll end paying even when you think you're saving. Even now there are many ways dealers turn a profit (qty/fleet orders, financing, incentives, holdbacks, etc. ). I don't begrudge them making a profit, as long as an educated consumers efforts are worth while. Also - price isn't everything(!), make sure you order form a dealer that has allocation and can get it in 6-8 weeks.

honestly, I think you can do a little better than that.

probably $1-2K better.

Just saw one on the lot here in Charlotte that stickered for almost 39k and they had a tag in the window for just over 32k

As of last night, the price has been reduced to $39,195 for the same truck I listed before. Again this includes $4000 off the MSRP, $1,500 factory rebate plus the $600 charge to add the silver on the bottom. This is the price that the salesman gave me right up front... no haggling (well at least not yet... ;)). I don't think he's gonna come down another $1,000-$2,000 unless I trade my 2001 and somehow he finds a way to get back that extra discount through the trade.

Ryan. some of us have been able to lock in $500 under invoice, not MSRP, plus 2k rebate plus $500 Farm Bureau. Do the math. If you can wait or have the time to look around, I think you can do better. Good luck, you're gonna love the new ride. :D

The price just got lowered again to $38,000 (includes the additional $500 bonus cash). It may not be the best deal, but it's better than nothing.
