I am experiencing electrical issues with my '07 5.9. There are 2 main symptoms.

1) For the last several weeks, the interior lights will come on normally when you open the doors except when you open the rear driver's side door. When you open that one, the interior lights will come on for a brief moment and then turn off as if they timed out. The lights will turn back on when you close the door but again, only for a brief moment before timing out. As mentioned, all other doors work correctly.

2) Beginning 2 days ago, the interior lights, dash lights, rear cargo light, and passenger side 12v power outlet will shut off for a period of time then come back on randomly. It acts as if the fuse is blown, but comes back on its own. I have checked and the fuse is seated tightly, no signs of corrosion etc. I also changed that fuse just for the heck of it and there is no change to the intermittent failures of that circuit.

Am I dealing with the signs of a TIPM failure? Any ideas on how to track this down?

When I was having similar interior light issues several years ago, I was advised to safely disconnect both battery grounds for about 15 minutes and then reconnect them. The lack of power for a period of time forces the TIPM, and other related control modules and software, into a "hard reset" to factory parameters and fixed my problem(s). I would try that first.

That being said, it is also possible that the problem with the rear door light activation is one or more broken wires inside the rubber wire loom between the rear door and *B pillar.

Thanks for the information. I'll have a chance to disconnect the batteries on Saturday. It can't hurt to try.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are broken wires in that door. I had to fix the rear passenger side door harnesses last fall because of broken wires to the speaker and door lock. It just seems strange that I am having 2 different problems in the same circuit.

1) I have the same issue with my left rear door recently and I don't have a TIPM.

I think it's a wiring or latch switch issue.

2) It might be a loose/bad wiring issue.

Update. All interior and dash lights now completely out. No intermittent on and off at this point. 12v outlets working again however.

The drivers for the interior lights and the cargo lamp are in the cluster. With out a scanner capable of seeing all the inputs an outputs you are going to be doing a lot of point to point testing

An old StarScan will work on 2006+ trucks up to the point they discontinued support for the software. I don't recall what year that was but I suspect somewhere around 2010. My neighbor has my old StarScan under the back seat of his 2006 truck. It still works but boy is it slow and prone to locking up.

Quick update. Fixed 2 broken wires in the back drivers side door. No help, but at least that is done.

I found a StarScan that I can borrow and should have it in the next day or so. I can attempt to reset the TIPM with that scan tool correct?

There is no reset for inop interior lights in older versions you could reset some trailer lamp output, there have been a couple of flashes over the years also. You can look at inputs, outputs, sensors and do some actuations.to flash you have to down load from FCA

Thanks. I appreciate your help.

Found another broken wire just beyond the connector going from the door harness in to the B pillar. Things are working as they should at this point.

Thanks for your help everyone.

I found that when I was looking for broken wires between the pillars and door it was also effective to "palpate" along the length of EACH wire in order to find the "brittle, inflexible" portions of that wire which were well on their way to breaking. *On some of the wires, there was NO visible dameg to the insualtion, but when I found the brittle part, one more bend would break the wire all the way through.

The hard, brittle parts of the wire, though not broken yet, were the result of wire fatigue from the repeated open/closing of the door. Think of trying to break a piece of baling wire by bending it back and forth rapidly...the wire at the apex of the bend gets hard and brittle BEFORE actually breaking.

Just my .02.

When I found a few broken wires on my truck I found it best to cut them all shortly after the B pillar plug and run new wires into the door, its only a matter of time until they all break.

Unfortunately, the symptoms have returned again. I'm thinking of just throwing a new TIPM at it at this point.

I definitely had broken wires, but as I was worried about from the beginning, there is more going on.

If anyone knows a source for the Dorman replacement TIPM 599-900, please let me know. They are out of stock everywhere I have searched.
