With the recent discussions on the 2006 models and the Mega Cab dually, there have been a lot of comments on the appearance of the changes. It seems to some members, appearance is everything. To others, functionally is a much bigger factor. What's you feeling?

I would say that function over form, but there's no reason today that we can't have both. On the other hand, form (or looks) is "in the eye of the beholder". I didn't like the 3rd gens right away, but now do. I even think GASP the 2006's look good. I've seen them in person, and pictures don't do them credit. Still think that headlights should be in the front, but, hey, I can learn to like it. But, yeah, FUNCTION FIRST!

Like my wife, beautiful & has a good brain/heart/soul. The combination of looks & excellence under the hood can't be beat!

I don't view my pick up as a fashion statement, but my '69 SS Big Block Camaro sure hell is :D

She turns more heads than any pick up I ever had, plus you can hear it a mile away

My pick up is for function and hauling stuff around. My '69 SS is for hauling arse :D

Herman that is one nice car! My ex girlfriends father had an all orginal 69 Z/28 Camaro, numbers matching with the raspy little DZ302 under the hood. One day I'll own one as nice as yours or his... :D

Bought my rig to use it, not to look pretty in front of the house,(when its here). But with my mobile wash and detail biz set up in the bed, a clean truck is only 10 minutes away !! Now my 70 Chevelle SS "clone", and my 'just got running yesterday' 87 Turbo Regal on the other hand... ... :D :-laf

Function: One duty, haul a large heavy Lance camper otherwise it sets in the storage building waiting for the next trip.

But... we like the luxuries of a nice interior too. Laramie with leather. :D

Everyone here is a total lair (except me ;) ) I KNOW that these trucks are a fashion statement. Look at all the talk about stacks, lights, wheels, flares, etc...

Any red-blooded CTD owner who doesn't say they identify with their trucks beyond their utilitarian benefits is fooling themselves!

The number one reason I went with Dodge was the reputation for reliability. I liked the interior comfort (have a hard time with these seats) and additional room of the Ford better, but the 6. 0 was a deal buster.

Definitely would say function over form, I always liked a good truck built to haul My first used truck was a 1950 dodge with a Big Caddy V8 I always liked the ford for a work truck though I never was quite satisfied with the engines all gas hogs lucky if I could get 10 mpg

I tried a GMC for one of my employees nice V8 but sheet metal was falling apart on it.

My first pick up diesel was a 6. 9 in a 4x4 F 250 w/4sp stick. Not much power but is was OK definitely not a freeway truck engine was not designed to run at hi RPM's. I sure was glad when Dodge first came out with a Cummins now I could have a pickup with an engine like I had in my heavy earth moving equipt. After 20 years the body of my 84 ford was starting to rust and I wanted a new truck So I naturally it was a Dodge Laramie Big smile on my face to and Ya know what it don't look bad either

"MOST" of my add-ons perform function. I wouldnt lie, I like my truck to show a part of me to set it different from everyone else. It still hauls what I want, is phenominal with my 34' enclosed trailer or anything else I put behind it. That's the best thing about the Dodge Cummins, we can have our cake and eat it too. Is your truck a fashion statement or functional?..... YES

The boys buying the Hemis..... all about looks and performance.

The Cummins... I'll bet most want work performance. Style comes in second almost never first.

IF it was looks I'd be driving a Ford. To me the Superduty is one great looking truck. I even like the sound of the 6. 0l, just don't want the reliability issues.

My Dodge is strictly a work truck, scratches and dings included. It's never been washed twice in the same month.

Proof that I don't purchuse a truck based upon appearance: My previous truck was a Duramax, clearly the ugliest front end ever put on a vehicle bar none. Jeff

All the mods I did on my truck for to add some functionally, mostly for towing the 5er, some for protection.

Towing mods include:

- PullRite 5th wheel hitch

- BrakeSmart Contrller

- Jacobs exhaust brake

- Vented 5th wheel tailgate

Protection:

- Line-X

- Mopar Splash guards

Convenience:

- Westin CPS step bars

- Weather Guard tool box

- Sirius Radio

Thanks my car is an original SS big block, but the engine is not matching. I have already begun my winter project. I pulled and sold the old 396 and I am installing a new Chevy 572 crate motor with a Viper 6 speed. Plus I am upgrading the brakes to Bear 4 wheel disc brakes. Should be a fun winter project.

Of course it helps to have a lift in my climate controlled warehouse to work on her this winter. In this photo we are pulling the fuel tank off and changing the sending unit. Old one was leaking :(
