The only thing I’m really concerned with is the new EGR technology and Cummins using a Variable Geometry Turbo. I don’t think any manufacture to date has had great success with this design. Cummins is unique and more simplified, as according to the PDF reading, it only was the variable geometry on the exhaust side of the compressor. Still I know they don’t really have a choice, as the EPA is forcing ULSD and more stringent emissions, resulting in all of this overtly complex and unnecessary equipment.
Again I’m excited that Dodge & Cummins will be sticking with the inline six. This is about 80% of the reason I got a Cummins in the first place, as I didn’t want a complicated V8 turbocharged engine in a $40K truck.
I wonder if Edge, TST, Bullydog and some of the other aftermarket companies are already R&D the 6. 7 yet? I wonder if it will be more of a challenge to Bomb one of these new engines? I couldn’t imagine some serious race injectors and mods, clogging up a soot trap?
