Just installed Isspro egt and boost gauges.
The lighting on the egt gauge sucks! I called and they said, OH ha WELL!??!. Seems to me the egt gauge has about a 1/4 inch space around the face itself that the light comes beaming in to the cab. Only to have a coat tossed over it. Has anyone came up with a fix???? Maybe rip the gauge apart and put something in to rid the gap?? Hate to screw up a $130 gauge. thanks larry

Sorry can't help you, no experience with Isspro gauges. I bought AutoMeter UltraLite Series gauges and they are awesome! Now if only my triple gauge dash pod would come in!!!

Yukon: I just ordered a set of isspro guages. If you find a fix please post it so the rest of us can enjoy. What color are the lites???

I have an Isspro boost gauge and think the lighting could be alot better, but dont know about the EGT one. I didnt think they matched each other well, so got a Vision for the EGT.
I plan on replacing the boost with a VDO Vision as well.

Well - your comments prompted me to go out and look at mine (ISSPRO). The EGT is ok with me. It has the color gradient and temp in increments. The color face is quite legible.

The boost gauge is to dim for these eyes. I rearranged the gauge in the pod so that 20 psi is at twelve noon. That will make it easier for me to get a sense of the boost without having to strain to focus on the numbers. Could use more brightness. However, the white on black is very legible in the daytime.

Ditto, Lembaar-
The boost needs more light. I find the EGT is near the OEM dash lights in night visibility but the boost is invisible.

I'm going to pull the bulbs next weekend and research something brighter.

Seems like I heard mention here of some colored bulb "condoms" for tinting the lights to match the green dash light tint.

I installed the tricolor EGT and B/W boost gauge and the intensity is just right for me.

For those that feel the light is too intense, ISSPRO recommends replacing the 12v bulb witha 28v bulb (GE#656). I suppose you could go the other direction if you feel it's too dim like a 10v bulb (don't know the number).

You say the tricolor egt gauge is right for you? I got the b/w gauge! does your gauge have that light shinning around the sides? Maybe I'll swap them out! I have mine mounted under the dash just above 4x4 shifter( always looking at a angle)

I have had my Isspros' in since January, and this is what I did. The boost IS dimmer than the EGT so I left the 158 bulb in the EGT and replaced the boost bulb with a 168(slightly brighter) and this helped alittle. I wouln't recommend using the 194,it's too hot for the thin pod plastic. I also put green bulb condoms on both to match the dash.

I love the Isspros' and won't trade 'em for anything, but if I was to do it over again,I wouldn't have the wires attatched to the dimming circut... I'd opt for full blast. With the dimmer all the way up,they're perfect but the dash is too bright for me. Evan Beck soldered the wires,so that's how they're gonna stay.

To All: Wal-Mart,Auto zone, and other auto outlets have the colored bulbs. No painting or rubber sleavesneeded. They have red, yellow, green. Not sure about all numbers. Question??? How do you get the A-Pillar loose and does it come all the way out? I have the 98 without the tweeter. Also is it hard to feed all the wires and tubes down throu the Piller??? Any help will be apreciated.

I've seen the bulbs at Wal-Mart but they're 194's.
To get the pillar off, simply pry it toward you with your fingers. It's only held in by clips.
Before you feed the wires through, wrap the bundle in electrical tape so it looks like a harness. It also helps to have someone on the engine compartment side to pull the harness as you feed it from under the dash and through the firewall.

I put a #916 in my isspro boost gauge. It's rated at 12 volts and I calculated it is 7. 8 watts at 14. 5 volts. It's almost as bright as the rest now. It hasn't melted yet! None of the the 194 family bulbs were over about 4 watts. The 916 is bigger and it's a tight fit. I checked GE & Sylvania mini lamp books for this one. Craig

Yukon:
The light shines around the perimeter of the colored EGT dial but some appears to shine through it as well. MikeR's right, the boost is a little dimmer.

I mounted the two gauges in the isspro pods with double sided tape right on top of the steering wheel cover (in front of the 4way flasher button for the left pod) so the pods appear centered in the speedometer and rpm gauges. You can still see the outer 25% of the speedo and rpm needles just fine and the intensity matches the rest of the dash pretty well.
