What is this? The Maytag repairman forum?

Somebody needs to go break something for pete's sake... :)

You're right Griz, the que for the furd website is too long and you have to wait hours for your problem post to even appear. Besides, the answer to everyone's problem and question is always the same: put a Cummins in it. ;)

And the warmer weather and fuel economy issue seeming to disappear may just be another way of saying "no one can afford (the price of fuel) to drive their truck enough to even need an oil change, much less wear anything out. " :{

I've got a couple more budget repairs with pictures to post, including front axle carnage caused by continued operation with a vacuum leak and rebuilding a constant velocity front driveline on the cheap.

I will try to get them together and posted this week.

Not too exciting but may start some discussion.

Mike. :)

... . been too busy fixing I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER to chat(or tear anything up)!! :D

Got a '98 that lost 5th gear, leaking front axle, speedo quit, no fuel guage... .

Got the bed on a Cheby, Dodge, and another Dodge... not quite finished with the third one. Not enough hours in the night... . :(

Been working on a Versatile two days, had several anti-freeze leaks that had to be fixed, and of course, I had to pull all kinds of crap off to get to the little hoses that leak... ... #@$%!

Had an emergency truck repair the other night. An '03 that lost it's lift pump. Had to install a pusher pump on the side of the road..... nice check, hope it clears... .

Also came on a steal on some fuel trailers, so I've been hauling them in the last two days..... Oo.

STILL don't have the transmission in my '93, or the bumpstick in my '97..... :(

Oh, and cows are still requesting to be fed every morning, which I accomodate every few days..... ;)

Gotta get my horses legged up, plant Hay-Grazer, start plowing under wheat, and haul some dirt for my horse barn I can't use until I get the floor in it... ... . Any more questions? K, it's Saturday, I'm gonna finish this 6 pack workout, and crash..... Sunday is a day of rest they tell me... .

If it aint broke don't fix it, so... . changed engine oil, transmission oil, transfercase oil and rear axle oil. Then rotated the tires. Oh yeah and changed the 9volt battery in my laser temp gun.

Cut some trees and pulled some stumps yesterday. Lots of storm damage around here from last Wednesday's tornado outbreak. Worked one of the trucks a little harder than I should have, but at least nothing broke.

Just started an overhaul project on an older Jeep Cherokee this week. I'd love to shove a 4bt in there at some point, but that's a little down the road.

No heat in garage. Too cold here to do anything on truck. We should be all the way up tp 38 degrees by Thursday. Oo.

I'm definitely interested in that topic! I shut my truck off yesterday and for the first time I can recall (my hearing is bad, though), I could hear hissing from behind/inside my dash (it seemed) long after the engine was shut off. When I turned the heater control to "OFF" it immediately quit. Not sure I'm comfortable with that... maybe need a new heater control?

A vacuum leak anywhere is a weak vacuum everywhere. I don't need front axle carnage.

You people in Wisconsin have had a rough winter.

We had a much colder than normal January, but the weather is much better now. 63*F right now.

The '96 leaks a bit of oil and the trackbar is about worn out. But the odo rolled 445,000 miles yesterday and there's nothing major wrong with it.

I need to take the Mule to auto parts store or garage that has a code reader. My mechanics code reader won't read my Mule or the Freightliner (Moose). Mule has had the airbag light on for a while and the abs and brake warning light just went on about 2 weeks ago (brakes work good) probably the rear wheel sensor on the diff but I want to make sure. )

I have a cracked dash, broken power window and passenger side mirror will not stay adjusted. I don't have the cash to fix them and the truck is parked till I can afford to drive it again. At least the truck is paid for, maybe next year things will look up. JC

I have been swamped at work and doing research on some different gauges to replace the Optix's for the new to me 05 truck so I have been reading more than posting.

That and readying the V-Rod for riding my time is tight... ... ... . Andy

I purchased an engine analyzer, code reader, at Costco last week for $89. I had a Check Engine, Vehicle Skid Control and a Traction Control, lights come on my 03 Toyota Avalon. The analyzer point to my air filter housing. Turns out that I didn't properly secure one on the latches on the air filter housing when I changed oil and air filter two days before.

It works on any vehicle 1996 of later. It's nice to have it handy.
