I have a TST J-Hook that I have had bouncing around my tool box for a few years. Kinda forgot that I had it, until I found it today.

My truck/trans is stock other than an EZ and a Scotty II intake. Will putting the J-Hook on have any effects either positive or negative on engine performance or trans longevity. I'm not too heavy footed, but occasionally will play around with the go pedal :). Am I going to have any trouble with frying my trans putting on the J-Hook or blowing engine seals/gaskets? I know that it allows more air/pressure to flow through the turbo, but does it increase HP and Torque per se? or just make the engine run more effienciently by forcing more air along with the added fuel from the EZ?

Truck has 66k miles and is my daily driver, which does not tow often or heavy.

Thanks in advance,

J-

When I added mine after at least a year without I did not notice any real power gains. I did notice that it helped my egts at higher boost levels and on long pulls up the mountains here. As far as detriments to the trans or engine I doubt it will have any negative effects. Your boost may go up to 26-27ish maybe a bit higher if loaded up good so again I doubt it will have negative effects on your head gasket etc.

Keep it at 27 or below and you will be fine. If you remove the EZ you have to remove the Jhook also. SNOKING

that is what I was told... mine is an HX:rolleyes:

Did you change it to the HX, as in 2001. 5 with an auto it is a HY35. Post a picture? Or are you sure that you do not have a clutch pedal next to the brake pedal!!!!! SNOKING

notice the yeller dipstick handle at the top of the photo ;)

If this is not an HX please let me know.

I trust the guy who told me this and would be surprised if he is wrong.

That exhaust housing looks like the pee-shooter 9cm of an HY. I changed my turbo from the HY to an HX and the exhaust housing looks bigger. I think you might have a HY...
