I called two Cummins of Cumberland Friday morning. One in Nashville and the other in Knoxville. I gave them the part # for the Jacobs E-brake for my 97 and they both came back with prices of $9XX!!! While saying they could drop it to $8XX with some talking to the manager!:--) :-laf

I said no thanks I can get it for $500 I know somewhere (Klenger wheres' your link!)

But gosh!:rolleyes: Remembered my local stealer had one on display @ one time with like a $500+ tag. Called my buddy at the parts counter and it was sold (like I have $500 right now anyways!) so I said get me a price. Well he looks in his computer... not there... ... . looks in his book..... not there either... . :rolleyes:

Say's call me back in an hour. Well I didn' think to give him the part # and he calls back telling me he can't get one for a 97 model(he knows they make 'em just supposedly he can't get me one).

Oh well, scratch one for Cummins not always being the cheapest!:confused:

10-4 Mark. When I was shopping around I wanted a Jacobs but for some reason couldn't find much info on the ones for a 96. I ordered one from Mechanicsville and clearly said 96 model year, I said it like 5 times during the conversation, then when it arrived, 2 days later (great fast service), it was for the later models. It had a different turbo connection then my truck. Too bad cuz it was less then $700 total, but when I sent it back the guy at Mechanicsville said there was no existing part # for a 96 Jacobs E-brake. Then I found it on Cummins Power Club ( I think that's what it's called) and it was over a grand:eek: !. So I ended up getting a Pacbrake for $499. But now I wish I got the BD 4 inch remote e-brake cuz I want a PDR HX-40:) .

Don't feel bad. Stevens Creek Dodge quoted me $1800 for the part alone. You can get them from Mopar4less.com for around $550.

Got Smoke,

I had quote from Cummins in the past for somewhere around $1000 on my '97 but it was for the part installed, including installation of the heavier valve springs which are required for our trucks. Still seemed a bit steep but I don't have any competing quotes to judge by... .

this is from a jacobs employee........

a friend of mine told me that the PACbrake is the same as a jake... ... PAC reverve engineered the jake and the parts are interchangeable except for one. when i quoted him PIERS' sale price last month he told me that he couldn't touch that price even with his employee discount. what the hell... go with the pac... ...

BTW, my friend has since been transferred to MONTANA!!!!!

I hope that they have better stuff to smoke out in Montana that stuff he was smoking when he told you that Pac-brake was the same as a ''Jake" and the parts are interchangiable (reverse engineered ) Take a look at each of them and see if any part would interchange . lol Ron In LOUISVILLE KY:eek: :eek: :eek: :-{}
