While filling up Friday, I was approached by a Ferd owner about the fuel mileage I was getting with my truck. I told him I got 16-20, just depending on how heavy a foot I have or if it's highway or city driving.
He grimaced and said he's only getting 13-15 out of his F-250. It has a 3. 7x rear end in it. I told him that while the stock F-250's pull better (IMO) than stock Cummins-powered trucks, the overall efficiency of the Cummins was superior, again IMO. He agreed and said he wished he'd gotten a Dodge.
Live and learn. Luckily I was edumacated (thanks to the TDR) about all this BEFORE I made a decision on which truck to buy.
Just for gits and shiggles, I "test drove" a F-350 Crew Cab long bed Auto 4x4. No offense to anyone, I wouldn't have that thing. It was fully loaded, leather and the whole bit. But compared to "Brandy" (my truck), it wouldn't get out of it's own way.
I like my truck more every time I get in it, just like I was told I would. After driving that Ford, then getting back in my truck, I couldn't get the silly grin off my face when I started it up and listened to that distinctive (and yes, LOUD) Cummins sound. You have GOT to love it! I really don't like the way Powerstrokes sound. And Duramax? Is that really a diesel? Dang, it sounds like a carb'ed 454.
