well, the wifes new Jeep was needing its first oil change,,,, yep, its the 3. 7 V-6 so if any of you guys have one you know what I'm gonna say,,, can't get the oil filter off!! Kinda interesting spot to put it, don't ya think. I have damaged the old one, so I can't even drive someplace to get it looked at. Any ideas on this one? I thank you and my wife thanksyou also.

I have a 2003 Liberty Limited with the 3. 7 V-6. The first time I changed the filter it was a little tight. I gained access reaching down threw the fan and removed the serpentine belt to make access a little easier. I used a strap wrench hooked to a 1/2" ratchet. Reach in as far as possible to get near the base of the filter. Changing the filter is easy after removal of the factory one and they have a nice channel below the filter to channel the oil out threw the front skid plate. Hope this helps.

This has been a problem for all Liberty owners. We think that Jeep didn't lube the filter gasket. I should have taken pictures of my filter. My Duramax was the same way.
