Re-building

Rebuilding a 1977 CJ-7 that currently has an AMC 360, TH400, Dana 300, Dana 44 axles w/Detroits, 7" lift, and a Wrangler body so it's galvanized. Can't wait to get rid of the AMC drivetrain. :D

89 mj 2. 5 2wd needs new heart and body work and will be lowered and will proble get a turbocharger with the new heart along with zj alum 44 rear and coil rear setup.

Oh Please, you have have a "real jeep" with a chevy motor and trans ;). Mine is more jeep parts than yours. Even my stroker motor is built from jeep parts, only thing in the stroker not made by jeep is the crane cam. It does however have an explorer 8. 8 axle in the rear. . but other than that its more jeep than your "real" jeep ;) just messing with you

Very nice. I had a 48 CJ2A I was gonna build, but I sold it when I had to transfer with my job. I so wish I would have stored it til I could build it. I love those flatties. I wanted to build it about like yours. Simple with lockers some swampers and a winch... . And a rollbar!!! Get one before you smash your head dude! Nice Heep! :)

Thanks! I have a roll-bar for it, but it was the typical "just for looks" one from the '70s where it bolted directly to the body. I am going to modify it so that it bolts to the frame, but I need to learn how to weld first or talk real nice to a friend that knows how to weld good!

Other than the engine, I took apart and rebuilt everything - axles, brakes, transmission, transfer case, body work, wiring. I paid a shop to do the engine (wish I would have done it myself now) and I did the bodywork with a friend showing me the basics. Friend did the welding work (body and Saginaw steering mount). The engine has a Pertronix ignition hidden inside the distributor and I converted to an electric fuel pump. Because of this project, nothing mechanical really scares me now!

It's hard to see in the pictures, but the oil lines are now stainless steel braid. The OEM ones I had burst apart while tooling around in the hills and I managed to run down to zero oil pressure, while dumping quart after quart of fresh oil in the engine until I got to a big hill where I could fly down. The girlfriend was ticked because we had to walk a ways in the middle of the summer and then into a thunderstorm :-{} . I guess she got over it since she married me... :-laf
