COBRAJET said:Your insurance may not have an issue, but when you hit someone hauling a gross of twice what your rig is rated the other party is going to have a huge problem with it. ALL insurance fine print reads that they do not INSURE or admit fault if YOU are using the vehicle in a manner it was not designed for. Do not take the reps opinion to heart as you put money in his pocket... GET IT IN WRITING. He won't do that.
Your from Dallas aren't you. You know about the oilfield. I can point you to several hundred (probably several thousand) trucks that are legally registered to haul CGWR of 30,000 plus. Everyone of these trucks are insured. they have to be.
From your standpoint, does this mean when one of our haul trucks, rated at 80,000 lbs hooks up to a 6 axle lowboy w/ jeep and hauls a 160,000 lb gas compressor - our insurance wont cover it because its not rated for it. I think not.
It takes a good driver to haul that kind of weight, if its a loaded down gooseneck or a haul truck. I have many a snowbird in S. Texas hauling a 10,000 lb rv with a 1/2 ton pick up. That fine, let them do what they want, just pull over when I need to pass - it is legal in Texas.
