Howdy!

I have owned my 99 cummins for about a year now. Absolutely love it... . will never drive a gasser again, I'm sure of it. Well with the exception of the wife's Yukon XL. I have driven F**ds since I got out of high school, but never a diesel.

Okay to the questions... . you can see what I drive from my signature. I have been reading the postings for a while and it becomes obvious most of you BOMB. I understand why, however I'm not sure that I really need to BOMB. The truck is awesome... blows away my father-in-law's powerstooper and I pull small things like trailers with a couple of four-wheelers and such. Can you guys give me reasons why I would need to BOMB?

Sorry so long... . but I am sure I will get lots of input... ... ... ... . thanks. wm

Wayne, the B. O. M. B. ing oof these truck motors is great!! I did a little to my last one but I honestly don't forsee alot being done to this ETH/DEE it just pulls to good stock!!!!!!

Oh yeah welcome to the club... ... Pete

Lately, I have been thinking about the same thing. As I take off from a stop, I feel myself being gently pushed back in the seat. I then start thinking about how it would feel to really feel the torque of the Cummins.

I think I have one of the least powerful trucks based on my configuration. I guess it would be nice to see peoples faces when a one ton dually smokes all four rear tires.

All I need is a beefed up transmission, injectors, bigger turbo, 4" exhaust, a EZ box, etc. .

It is only a matter of money and a voided warranty.

Didn't mean to YELL at you, but heck, what better reason!

Me, I get my greatest kicks on lightning fast acceleration. Some get theirs on high speeds, cornering, etc. . I have always been a truck lover. To some people, a car/truck/vehicle is just a tool, something they use to go from point A to point B, maybe haul groceries, whatever. Me, I'm one of that few percent who knows that cars and trucks have living, breathing souls! Ok, I'm drooling again. But I've always felt if a little performance is good, more is better! I love to push my machine, to see just what I can get out of it. That of course isn't everyone's philosophy, to each his/her own.

Do yourself a favor: it may be a bad favor, but you should do it anyway. Find someone in your area who owns a BOMBed Cummins Ram, and either ask if you can take it for a spin, or ask him/her to take you for a short ride in it. If that experience doesn't explain why people BOMB their trucks, then you are among the few who are immune from this virus. Most of us ain't #ad
And we wouldn't have it any other way...

At any rate, enjoy a fantastic truck, and welcome to the greatest truck related web site on earth.

See my sig for the BOMBs I added last weekend. Oh, baby! what a difference!!

Tom

Welcome aboard Wayne. Lots of us bomb because you can get a lot more power out of our trucks without losing fuel economy providing you use the power sparingly and responsibly. The differance between a stock truck and one with 300 HP is HUGE, makes driving a lot more pleasant. Imagine having the quickness of a small car with a strong V6 in your truck the next time you merge on a short ramp or need to pass quickly.

I BOMB because it's fun to drive but also I feel it's a SAFER tow vehicle, merging in traffic, passing, etc. I've towed w/Dodge gasser and the difference in comfort level is all I needed to justify the upgrades.

I drove mine stock for almost a year to the day in stock trim. Then after reading the almost unbelievable power increases some members had with relatively minor changes I knew I'd been bitten bad! The difference before and after is too amazing to really put into words. It has to be experienced. Before when I was going to pass, I had to pretty much make sure there were no cars in sight in the opposite lane, no hills or curves, etc. Now, I think pass, put the pedal down, bam! by the time my back bumper passes their front tire, I'm doing 80 and then 90 as I pull back into the lane, it's that fast. That gets the blood pumpin', that's why I BOMB #ad

If you BOMB, your face will look like this #ad

Your wife will look like this #ad
and then this #ad
(means she is getting "accustomed" to BOMBing)

Your dog will always look like this #ad
no matter what you do

Nuff said and time for the rack for me (hopefully not literally).

cuz it's better to spend our money on the love or our lives than let the wifes and girlfriends spend it foolishly on groceries, kids clothes and whatnot----he,he,he----cuz we can and the CUMMINS can take it and loves it---oh baby what a little here & there does for these engines and what's doubly nice with the upgrades the truck is still easily driveable-it's a corvette eating machine when it needs to be or nice mild mannered ol'diesel that gets you around town & country beautifully----

Thanks for the input... . I figured I would get the blood flowing.

I know that with the auto I have less power than other stock configs. I guess it is the low end torque, but even at this stock config I feel like I have awesome power... . certainly more than any truck I have owned. I sort of feel like everyone had better get out of my way, because I am either going to climb over you or just push you out of the way... . I can't imagine what it would be like if I had more power.

I can tell you that I won't be BOMBing heavily, however if I wanted to do small things as economically as possible what would you suggest?

Thanks again... . and w/o doubt this is a great club!!!!

To quote Master Yoda "Once you start down the Dark Path, forever will it dominate your destiny". Just like the Lays potato chip commercials say, you can't eat just one! Once you start, you simply can't stop #ad
Once you see what a little can do, you will want more. Trust us... .....

That's about it for cheap BOMBs. Any more, and You'll need to start doing the expensive transmission mods. And it just gets worse from there on...

Enjoy!

Well said, Scott!!!

It's pretty trippy having a 7400# work truck, that accelerates as hard as this, gets decent fuel mileage, comfortable, and most likely, quicker from 30-80MPH, than 95% of the vechicles in my county... . Always looking forward to driving it!!!! #ad

I talked to HVAC, and just look where that has gotten me. One of the moderators made the statement to the effect of, "Oh, oh. You talked to HVAC. That's just like jumping out of an airplane. He keeps selling you things on the way down to make the landing softer. The good thing is, you do go faster. " Now I'm changed. I went from the "I'll never have to do anything to this great truck, honey. " To "Just a little more power, please honey?" #ad

Amianthus, that was my first mistake also, talking to Nowel. Next thing I knew, I had a Power Edge coming my way while the truck was still being built. Talk about being a Bombaholic, I didn't even have the truck yet #ad
. Heck, I didn't even know what bombing was when I ordered. Actually, I'm just kidding about Nowel. He spent more time on the phone with me answering stupid questions than most would have had the patience for. That seems to be the norm on this site and it's members, which makes it so great.
