Long - But Interesting and Informative

Drove past a dealership on the way to the beach and stopped and looked at a 06 megacab, 6"lift, step bars, 35"s on 18"Chrome, dual exhaust... nice looking all installed by dodge and the dealership. No price, but dealer is supposed to call me back with one. Its got the Hemi with the MDS system... hows that working out for people... any better?

I might think about trading in my 05 Ram Diesel for it. Good or bad idea? So far I really haven't used the truck for whats its to be used for. I drive it alot and Its costing me $60 a half tank to fill. Gas is dropping, but diesel so far isn't. I know the diesel will last alot longer them the gasser...

Whats your thoughts. .

If fuel costs and mileage are a concern I sure wouldn't be looking at a lifted truck with big tires. Neither is condusive to to good mileage and whatever you pay for the new truck would buy a helluva lot of fuel.

With those tires, that lift, and a Hemi, you will be putting in twice the amount of fuel.

The Mega-cabs all run 3/4 or 1-ton drivetrains.

Mega-Cab's have to have the Diesel or Mileage will rarely be in the double digits.

Not to mention the overall cost to operate something like that! Big tires are more expensive, have much shorter life, dramaticly increase brake wear and sure decrease fuel economy. Stick with the diesel for sure, ESPECIALLY if you are concerned about fuel economy.

I'd stick with the diesel too. That much lift will surely mess with your drivetrain and wear parts faster and I bet the dealer won't even cover them!

Stick with the diesel. The depreciation is much more on the hemi as well. The Cummins wont drop as fast, you'll get more out of it later than you would the hemi.

Stop back there in a few months after it doesn't sell and offer to trade them your stock parts for their lift kit and tires. For a fee (like new tires on your wheels).
