Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) just dont know

Does anyone have any suggestions for when the truck (RAM 2500 diesel) has the water in fuel light come on and truck goes into limp mode but doesn't remain there--power returns then goes back to limp mode again--and power back again but light remains constantly on. Thought in-line pump was the problem but that has been replaced and things were fine for a short while then the above happened again. Any thoughts? :{ please i need help thank you

did you try draining the water out of the fuel system, the petcock on the fuel filter is used for that, check the owners manual for detailed instructions, Just a shot in the dark, but worth a try since the water in fuel light is on.
