Hello,

This is my first post to the TDR. I took delivery of a brand new '05 Ram 3500 4X4 cew cab Cummins Power about a week ago. I ordered it first week of Feb. and dreamed about it ever since.

I have previously owned 3 other pick-ups. A 1990 Chev1500 SS 454 RWD, 1997 F350 Crew Cab 4X4 Power Stroke, and my last truck a 2001 F350 Dully crew cab 4X4 Power Stroke. I have to say after having this Ram 3500 Cummins power for a week now I am very impressed with this truck and especially the engine. The Cummins is heads and shoulders above the Power Stroke. I can't wait to go out and put some more miles on it. Below is a pic of my new baby.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeh the truck has less than 500 miles so I have to get out there and put some miles on it. Is it true these Cummins engines break in at over 10,000??? Sorry for the silly question, but I've never owned a Cummins and thats what someone who ownes one told me.

I have already ordered Westin Chrome SS step bars, Di-Pricol boost and EGT gauges for the A piller, Hadley duel air horns in black to mount under the hood, Putco SS bed rail & tail gate covers, J&J SS grill insert, elec. brake box. I should have all of the above by next week and I'll start the installs. I don't want to hot rod the truck yet since it has less than 500 miles. I'll put some milage on it and then decide what to do, but I definitely want to do some performance upgrades. My last truck a 2001 F350 Power Stroke had the Banks Stage 3 kit for the Fords. It was a good kit and I never had any problems with it. I pulled a 30ft. enclosed race car trailer with it many miles. I'm not sure what mods. I'm going to do on the Dodge. Thats one of the many reasons I joined the TDR, to see what others have done.

Hey, that's the twin to my new truck! Now I don't have to post pictures. Enjoy! I still can't get used to the quiet compared to my 2nd Gen. This truck is so much more refined.

Congratulations

Congratulations, I just picked up my new truck yesterday flew to Reno from Oakland airport and drove it home last nite, only 320 miles on it now. I was to told that I would start to get better mileage at about 10,000 miles as engine broke end and at 40,000 engine would be completely broken it and mileage would be at its best. I asked if I should consider better filtration of fuel they said no stock system was fine. This morn I called Air Dog and spoke to the former owner Charles he was GREAT. after getting some of my questions answered I had him connect me to the ordering dept. and I ordered a unit for my truck should get it in about 4 wks. To bad I didn't by it before the 15th of month as price has just about doubled since new owners took over.

Oh yeah I bought rear wheel well liners and had 3M tape placed on the stratigic places on truck to help protect the paint.

Good luck with your new truck,

Bill

Yep. And in my boneheaded exitement I forgot to congradulate this man. Nice truck. :) I seriously considered a silver one after looking at them in person, they're very nice.

It depends on how you work it. Best way to break it in is to work it hard! The harder you work it, the faster it will break in. Also, just my opinion, but I would change the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter now.

Good looking truck. . glad to see you got a long bed :D Nothing worse than a 1 ton truck with a short bed... :D

Scott

1 ton short beds are so much easier to park and they fit in the avg garage.

Nothing better than a shortbed 1 ton. LOL  Ya know, its all in what your going to use it for. Long beds are good for construction, short beds are good for everyday driving. Ive had both and I like my SWB

Well Po, thanks for YOUR opinion. I also have had both, and I sure like my SWB 1 Ton. To each his own.

You ain't kidding. I'm not use to driving a truck thats this quit, but I'm not all complaining. My last 2 trucks especially the '97 Ford made a lot of noise. The best was when I took it to the McDonald's drive threw for the first time and they asked me to shut it off cause they couldn't hear me :D That Ford Powerstroke was as loud or close to the old Cummins in noise for sure.

Best of Luck with your truck, I am loving mine they are awesome trucks!!!!
