I agree with you about the strength of the Allison. I own a Goerend transmission also and although I do like it,the shift logic of the Allison is far superior for towing. The transmission thinks better than we do at times and seems to always know when and when not to shift.
I do however know that my 2nd gen does defuel when upshifting. This programming was designed to save the 47RE's sub-standard torque convertor and make it live long enough for the warranty to expire:-laf:-laf:-laf
