Glacier Fuel System?

Smarty or TST PowerMax3?

WOW :--) It's a differnt truck, i was getting ready to sell the smarty because it was causing the engine to rattle, like it was adding timing down low (on levels2,4,6 and 8). Soot was uncontrolable now it runs stronger and soot is more controlable.

I've held off on any upgrades for mine, because it's pretty good as it is, and some of the features in the "upgrades" are not what I want...

That said, I have noticed the rattle you mention down in the lower programming ranges about 1/3 of the way up the RPM scale on moderate acceleration...

Don't most boxes that add timing make the Cummins louder??

The Smarty on the even settings, 2-4-6-8, supposedly doesn't add timing, but I get the timing rattle described above even on the LOWEST Comp settiing, 1x1. I don't get it at all with the Comp only...

I'm not concerned about it, just mentioned it since the thread originator did...

Man Tim, I dont get the rattle thing. I've never had that issue, are you sure that it is not something else?...

Tim , Tim , and Me ... Tim :-laf

What Softwares are you using? SW2?

Me . . I Went Back to the origional Software (SN 000005) As the truck in gear was pushing harder against the brakes (RPM's in gear were at 820) The OEM SW did and does not do it.

I checked the MADS site yesterday, didn't see any recent software upgrades for the 2nd generation stuff - but DID see one this month for the 3rd generation trucks related to "rattle" when larger than stock injectors were used...

im not sure what software upgrade i did,Had Todd do it for me. im using sw8 with my edge juice on 2 for daily driving and put it on 6 for Fords and Chevys.

I have the low rpm box rattle also. I just updated the smarty and I will see what happens. I dont understand why they claim to have an update, they dont show any newer (recent) dates for the 2nd gen. 24v's.

quick question. i have a 3rd gen 2005 and i know this forum is for the 2nd gen 24v's but i had a question about timing rattle. i dont really know what it is? i have my smarty on moderate torque managment and level 1 and i noticed it is a bit louder and at idle i notice it especially. (not nearly as loud as your guys trucks but louder) it almost sounds like a diesel..... Is this timing rattle? just wanted to make sure

OK, I got the smarty updated, and the rattle did change, but for the worse! I know there was a change because the software version changed after I did the update. Has anyone in the 2nd gen world noticed no change or a change for the worse with an update?

I really like how the smarty works, but not how it works with the ddufm (at lower rpms).

Any ideas? Thanks, Jim
