I didn't know there existed actually three types of cases. Non-bossed, bossed, and improved stepped hole (which I also assumed would be bossed). Not really sure what the boss does except prevent me from using a Tab. Guess the boss makes the KDP travel further before it falls out... gets Cummins that extra time needed to get out of the warranty

. Maybe it stiffens the whole case in that area.
How do 12V'ers (the most experienced in KDP jigs) think using a jig varies in a bossed versus a non bossed situation.
I took the cover off my 24V last night and I believe I can see I have the bossed cover which makes using a tab almost impossible... at least a flat one. Its hard to see if its the stepped hole (improved case).
Plus I'm not sure about drilling with the jig either. I've only seen non-bossed covers before with a jig fix... as a display model. The screw was right up against the KDP bore hole. With a bossed hole, you have more metal to drill through and the bit could "break out" or wander out of the bossed area if the bit is right on the edge of the boss. Just thinking out loud.
Guess all I can do is use loctite and a punch to make some burs... just like CUmmins said. A tab in my situation would need to be stair stepped... and I dont like bending small pieces of metal that tightly. Could stress crack the metal.
Maybe I could just tap the bossed hole and install a plug with lots 'o lock-tite.
