Oh are there any gaskets that we may/will need? As you might be able to tell I am CLUELESS as to what we are actually doing, but I will learn 3-16.

Darren

I am new to this to but my sources tell me we will need the following:

Gear cover gasket: Cummins part # 3918673, Front crankshaft seal service kit: Cummins part # 3904353

We might need a longer bolt due to the thickness of the tab... . the original is a M8x1. 25x17mm... . so we could need longer bolts.....

Micah

Gummel: All those parts you listed (that I gave you... hehe) are only needed when using the tab method... .

If for some reason we try to jig a truck and it won't work, then we'll need those parts to tab it.

Matt

Well now my sources has been divulged! We should have these parts on hand just in case, you all know how it goes. We should post the way we each plan to go so we can plan for time parts etc…. I think I will do the Jig unless I am convinced otherwise. Do we have a time on how long it takes to do the Jig?

time

Gummel, From reading other threads on this subject I think I saw that illflem (sp) has got this down to under an hour but he has done a lot of them. I would plan on two hours each depending on the level of ability of all parties but it sounds as if this would do. Some of the other posts suggest several at a time to be pulled down in teams. This is a good idea as once the engine is down as far as it has to go the drilling, countersink and tapping should go fairly quick for each unit. This is not to suggest of course that we should rush this aspect of it. Far from it. It just would be more of an assembly line process.

If anyone has done this themselves please add your advice.

John

I'll be there at 7AM with a box of Joe. I got a family thing later in the day, but I'll put what time it takes not to be a member of the 4% KDP club. :D
