I replaced a switch on my 98 and had 292k on when I sold it was wondering if this is a issue with 3rd gen???? TIA

Just installed the Summit kit, pretty easy, just mounted the relays on the passenger side fender, below the AFE. I grounded each side on the top lip of the engine bay. I ran the wires following the original wires and boy, talk about exact amount, to the tee, had just enough length of wire, no more, no less. Switch stays way cooler so far, I also have 2 holes in the air duct to blow air over the switch, so this should keep things cool.

The Summit Racing harness is great, it's actually made by APC. The trucks lights switch is completly bypassed of the headlights load, only the marker lights and interior dome lights remain. The harness is very well constructed, and the wire size is much larger then the stock factory harness. Best part is the lights are much brighter, I can actually see now. For the small price of 35 bucks, it's a no-brainer.

The current Summit price as of 12/31/2004 is $39. 95 plus $8. 95 handling fee.

That's a pretty stiff price for a couple of relays. On the other hand, it is plug 'n play and close the hood. Good trade off IMO.



And to back up Y-Knot, yes, the switch will be cool to the touch because the headlight amperage no longer goes through the switch.

Most driving lights are 55 watts or higher each. Two of them would be 110 watts which means they are drawing almost 10 amps. Put them on a relay with a 15 amp fused 18ga circuit and trigger the relay off the switch. The switch is overloaded.

No problems since installing the kit a few months ago, I also drilled 2 holdes in the A/C duct just behind the switch, to get some extra cooling.
