After returning from a 500 mile trip I noticed that my horn doesn't honk when I use the key fob to lock the doors. The doors still lock and the lights flash, though. The horn also works when I tap the steering wheel. Does this sound like a problem with a computer, wire or something else? I thought there was a way to program the truck so that it doesn't honk when the fob is used, so I thought about trying to reprogram it but I don't know how. Any suggestions? As problems go, this is about as minor as it gets, but it's still an indication of a vehicle that is getting long in the tooth.

Check the owners manual, You can customize how the key fob funtions. I have mine silent and one push unlocks all doors.

Crunch,

Mine does the same thing on occasion.

Locks still lock but sometimes the lights don't flash and the horn doesn't honk. If you open the door tho, the alarm still sounds. Especially if it is late at night#@$%!

I chalk it up to one of the quirks of the mighty Dodge. Don't give it another thought.

I am in trouble before I even begin ... I have disabled the chime for the seat belt. I tried to get the horn disabled but IO cannot tell when the chime works or not. IS there any other way to do it without hearing a chime? I don't want to go through getting the chime turned on and then off again.

I tried the steps three times and without hearing any chimes I am not sure I am sequencing it correctly. So far nothing has changed.

I guess I will just live with the horn.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. Thanks. I don't know how, but I must have disabled the horn chirp on one of my last two road trips. Considering the steps required to do so, I'm surprised it happened. Thanks!

FYI, if you had trouble with the procedure, make sure you are using the key fob for the reprogramming. It doesn't say it in the instructions, but the key fob is the only way you can press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time.

using the key fob.....

Yup, I figured it meant using the fob. But it never did work. I will just live with the horn. After all it is a 7 year old truck. :)
