Does any other member have this problem? When the truck is cold, such as below 20f, the keyless entry does not function. When it has sat out in the sun for a while it will work, sometimes after holding the button down for a while, 5 seconds. I have tried both fobs so that is not the issue. Also when it is above 50f it always works. The solinoids are not sticking because they do not make a single noise when the system does not work. Aliens?

I have watched my locks come up real slllloooow when it is cold so I would suggest maybe it needs some WD40 or actually a shot of Silicone spray lube (it doesn't attract dirt like WD-40) to solve a no unlock cold situation.

Mine does that but its not temperature related, every so often it just doesn't work, I also notice that when it won't work the dome lamp does not come on and the radio has lost its presets. All of which points to the instrument cluster on the 3rd gens.

When it doesn't work the park lights don't flash, like it is not getting any signal and the radio presets are not lost. It is not a lubrication issue it's electronic.

Still sounds like the instrument cluster, your keyless entry module plugs into the back of the instrument cluster and many have had troubles with that cluster. There are current TSB's listed to re-program the cluster but I am not aware of just a non entry fault.
