Quick question guys  - what's the best way to install a hidden 'kill switch' (i. e. theft deterent) in a CTD? I can do it a half a dozen ways with a gas mobile - this particular aspect on my diesel is a little new to me.

Thanks!

take one cable off the battery... . thefts want a car they can jump into and drive off with..... if they have to pop the hood, forget it they'll go to the next one

There has been some discussion on this lately, so do a "search" and see what it comes up with. If you have any more questions, just ask!

Theft deterant....

Install a toggle switch in line with the power feed to the shut-down solenoid. May wanna place that switch somewheres you wont be apt to "trigger" it whilst en rout.

OR

Remove all the wheels/tires

I would have to agree with Scott on this... kill the power to the fuel solenoid.

My deterrant is to always leave the keys in the ignition...

first of all who wants to steal a doggy old diesel truck? Second, why steal something that isn't challenging?

The fuel solenoid is one method to install a kill switch. If you have a manual transmission, another method is to bypass the clutch cutout switch with a switched system. The switch can be on the dash or hidden.

The motor won't even turn over with the clutch cutout switch having an open circuit.

The last TDR magazine did an entire article on anti theft methods.
