I don't understand why everyone thinks they have to spend $2K to get 18" wheels when the stockers do just fine. I'm running a 35" tire on my stock aluminum rims and the 17" size offers far more choices in tires than the 18".

By the way, Kore (T-Rex) ran this way for a very long time, didn't they?

I am running the Mastercraft Courser CT 35x17x12. 50 and it's a D rated at 3000 lbs per tire (I think that's the maximum D rated tire, 3001 lbs would be an E rated tire). That's more weight than the GVWR so tha'ts plenty.

;) They ran the Baha 1000 with the stock 17"s ;)

"Are they worth it" is a lot more relevant question about the suspension systems than it is about the wheels, the suspension will work fine without the wheels but it wont be nearly as shiny from 20' away. The advantages of the wheels are the availability of load range E tires in larger size, the correct offset, and of course the  factor :)

I have the earlier T/Rex system with the replacement stud rings. Kent advised running 40lbs. front and 35lbs. rear, cold. I noticed on the KORE sight he recomends 30lbs front and rear. Just curious what tire pressure everybody is running with BFG 315's.

Partially it's looks & coolness factor like jrobinson says, and when you start putting 35s on 17" rims the sidewalls are getting pretty tall. . . 18" will help with this and should reduce sidewall flex & increase cornering response (having all other variables equal).

I'm tired of your arrogant, not called-for responses (and threats too?).

Yes, thanks for your posts saying that to those that think $250 matters that we either need a better job or to stop whining. This was an incredibly helpful post and I really am glad you made it. . Your posts are extremely arrogant and rarely helpful. I don't want to perpetuate the peeing match you and caveman have going but I have to say thanks but no thanks for your comments on this thread. You act like a jackass on almost all threads, hinting at any chance you get about how much money you have, and are generally negative. Was there any point in any of your posts that had anything to do with this thread, aside from one little sentence saying that the kore is worth the money?

Punkineater, I hope my posts to your replies weren't taken the wrong way. After reading your latest post, I thought that was the intended use you were talking about.

I've been on several trails there in Utah and Colorado, doing the rock crawling thing. In fact, that is what I built my Samurai for.

KORE's systems were not designed for extreme articulation types of terrain. They were meant for everyday use(PACE), light to moderate off-road(CHASE) and full out off-road(RACE).

Each system has it's intended target. And I can see why you feel it doesn't fit for what you would use it for.

I haven't had mine on any trails in Utah or Colorado since installing the KORE system, but the next time I am there, I most certainly will. I have no doubt that the KORE system will perform well there.

Now as far as clearance issues are concerned, tire size plays a huge part in determining the amount of lift necessary to clear without issues. That's why Kent's systems are engineered for 35 inch tires. I chose to run 37's, and have not had any clearance issues to speak of.

Truly, this system has an intended target, just like every product out there. With 3 systems, I think Kent has hit a wide range of customers that could benefit from his expertise.

It seems like there's nothing new to add so I'm closing this thread. It's fine to disagree, but please, let's keep our posts within the forum guidelines.
