Don could you move the mounting point of the plate down with some spacers? Is the pan rounded where it attaches with the u-bolts or could you just put some kind of block in there?

Don,

Thanks for the heads up! I have a Power Wagon steering damper skid plate on the way and already have a streeing brace installed. I agree with you, I want significent clearence between the extended steering shaft and the skid plate... . may look at doing a little trimming or adding a hole in the skid plate to insure clearance.

Thank you!

Ok so ive got my stabalizer installed and its now got a steady pull to the left... . Overcharged?

Can you adjust pressure with a simple tire pressure guage. I know to add PSi you would need nitro... . I think i need to go down a little.

They come with75PSI? Can i check mine with tire guage without loosing too much?

You can check w/ a guage. You will lose some nitro when checking. Small cylinder chamber w/ a lot of pressure, but that may all you need let out when you check the psi. I would not go no lower than 50 psi w/o the stabilizer doing its job.

I know when I had my Defiant S/S on for a short time. It never pulled to the left. W/ my Carli S/S I have now. Too much will pull to the left. Just let a little out to track straight.

Not really Jason. There are two opposed body bolts on the passenger side of the skid that even without the U-bolt on the axle, hold the plate up flush to the bottom of the axle tube. I might be able to loosen everything back up, and then try to twist the skid downwards on the leading edge a bit and then retighten the U-bolt and body bolts, but I doubt that approach will do much.

I have a 12-1. 25mm fine threaded jam nut on order, so I am going to try that next.

Mickey,

From your post, you may be confused. The potential clearance issue is between the Defiant/Radflo tie rod stud length and the top surface of the Power Wagon steering damper skid. Neither the Defiant steering box brace unit nor the extended steering sector shaft nut enter into the picture.

Jason,

Something isn't right. The single Defiant/Radflo steering stablizer should only have 75 psi nitrogen in it, which shouldn't be enough to push your steering to the left (and my single Radflo doesn't do that, even with the front end fully jacked up). What I am wondering about is the possibility that you may have inadvertently been supplied with one of the dual stabilizers which have 200 psi in them (which will definitely push your steering to the left). Normally, you have two stabilizers in the dual set up that oppose one other, so the 200 psi each pretty much cancel the effect out for more neutral steering.

I would definitely do a check with a tire pressure gauge. Just make sure the gauge can go high enough (and try to get an accurate reading on the first try to minimize N2 gas losses).

Good luck,

Don

A total success !!!

By the way, my extended test run on Tuesday went absolutely fantastic! The combination of the Defiant/Radflo steering stabilizer and Defiant steering box support unit worked like a champ. What a difference in steering, front-end handling, and perfect tracking! I really didn't know what to expect, so I am completely happy with the end result. I still plan to do a separate write-up when I get a chance, but I at least wanted to get back with the high points.
