Anybody thinking of a suspension upgrade... . these springs make the grade. . big time. I cannot get over the difference in ride.

Have ordered the chase system because virtually all driving is on the highway system, bur since we have a place in San Felipe will do some rough/off road stuff in baja. The wife said "are you sure you don't want the upper level system". Hope the chase system is plenty, I sure don't plan on driving at high speed and really don't want to lose any highway ability. Anyone directly compared the two systems?

Ron

I recently did the road from Bahia de Gonzaga to San Felipe and then on to Mexicali. (I've got the Fox setup. ) That was definitely the worst road I travelled in Baja in a three week trip. I don't have a first hand comparison of the different systems, but if you're only going as far as San Felipe, either one would probably suffice. Where the Fox system really shines is dirt roads at over 40 mph. And 50mph. And 60mph... ;-)

I'm a pretty cautious guy, but even my 83 year old dad was amazed that the truck didn't fall to pieces after repeated launchings into the air. Nothing extreme, mind you, but still air under all four tires. It just sucked it up. And even after him getting tossed around like a rag doll, he wanted more...

Ron,

I have the Chase system shocks only. I did not get the springs because my rig sits just about level with the camper and I did not want to have the front higher than the rear when loaded. Our rig weighs about 12,000 pounds so Kent suggested heavy-duty valving for the rears. We have a bit over 10,500 miles on the setup now and are totally pleased with the performance both on and off road. - no air time yet ;o)

These miles include most weather conditions from downpours to snow/ice. We were in Alaska this past Sept/Oct and traveled the Cassiar, Top-of-the-World and the Denali Highways. They do soak up the bumps and dips, but IMHO, the most impressive characteristic is the improvement in overall handling. Mind you, if you are expecting a velvety-smooth ride under all conditions you may be disappointed, but if you are looking for a suspension that significantly improves handling, you, as many others on this forum have stated, will be more than pleased.

Dave

The current ride on pavement is good enough with the stock suspension so it sounds like anything better on the pavement from the Kore chase system is just a bonus. Sounds like it the improvement on the rough roads should be be the biggest improvement and that is what the stock system lacks.

Looking forward to getting it installed and off to Baja.

are you saying most people are having problems with the rev tek spacers breaking the studs???

Yes that seems to be the case. I was told before I installed the Revtek spacers that the studs break. I installed them anyway. They broke.

Purchased the Kore leveling kit & swaybar drop blocks from Greg last week. Should be here soon & will post some pics before/during/after install.

BTW Greg any updates on the Fox steering stabilizer for second gen trucks?

Yo Hoot, you say "Along with the springs comes a damper ring and a retainer ring. Place it on th enew springs. " I did not get a damper ring or a retainer ring... do I need one? I am running the daystar lift now... and it's not so good...

Good catch... that's a mistake. I will delete that sentence. I can't figure out why I typed that. You use the stock damper ring and retainer.

Hey I did not see the 5100 shocks on the Kore site any longer... they are now 5150... how does that work on the front?

The 5150's dont fit the front, The 5100's are still there.

BFS6646 Bilstein 6646 front shock for use in lifted applications

BFS6681 Bilstein 6681 front shock for use in stock applications

BFS6647 Bilstein 6647 rear shock, custom-valved. For stock and +1”
