Engine having trouble shutting down??

Good morning.

I'm staying near Lake Texoma Texas and have encountered a problem with my Jake that may require a visit to a Cummins parts dealer. Can anyone steer me to one near Whitesboro or Gainesville?

My internet service here is not consistent enough to do much online searching.

I don't know what you need or how much assistance they can provide but there is an outstanding Ram dealer in Gainesville.

Glenn Polk Autoplex Service Gainesville | Ford Parts & Auto Repair near Dallas | Ford Repair Gainesville TX

I live 250 miles from them but have purchased all three of my Dodge Rams from Glen Polk Autoplex. Several years ago they had an exceptionally good young tech in the service department who was level 4 trained and certified on Cummins engines.

They have always been 100% honest and helpful in my dealings with them.

Thanks all. The problem just developed yesterday. I'll spend the morning trying to figure out just what my problem is and go from there. I've come to rely on the brake and would hate to tow much without it.

If you can make it through without for a while, you could pick up a belt that is made for the engines without the Jake and just bypass it. I carry the original belt that came with the truck "just in case". Good luck!

I have a belt so that may be how I deal with it the next month or so until I get back home. I went to the Dodge dealer Harvey suggested and learned they want about $850 for a new pump. Since Cummins lists the pump for about $160, there's no contest.

Damn, that's rape and robbery!

If you're going to be at Lake Texoma a few days call one of the Cummins dealers, order the vacuum pump shipped to your address wherever you are, and pay with your credit card.

I had an APPS failure on I-5 just north of Seattle years ago when I was transporting. I pulled off the interstate into a closed gas station on a corner in a small bedroom community and called the nearest Dodge dealer. I purchased the APPS over the phone and they sent their local delivery truck out to me with the new APPS. I installed it in 15 minutes and was on my way back to Pendleton, OR where I was staying in an RV park near the terminal we shipped from.
