De-Winterization

Do any of you familiar with Las Vagas know if there is a RV friendly route when heading north on 93 that will bypass the growth of East Vegas? Maybe something toward Lake Mead that connects back to 93 north of town? I'll be coming from Kingman heading toward Ely. Thanx.

Two of us recently went that route with our RVs.

There is a bypass around most of Boulder City now which will save you some time. Your real hangup will be Hoover dam. All traffic stops for pedestrians and if you get to the dam anytime during the day, traffic could be backed up for a couple miles.

You will also have to go through an inspection before crossing the dam - open a few compartments, etc.

Once you hit I-515, it is smooth sailing - according to time of day of course.

93

we travel that 93 quite a bit. we take the 318 off the 93 about 90 miles north of las vegas to the 6 then back to the 93 at ely. saves about 40 miles.

fuel at ash springs or alamo. 318 is a good road, easier tow than the part of 93 it bypasses.

By Pass

Have you considered Flagstaff, Hwy 89 north, misses the dam (Boulder) and Vegas then cut back to 93 at your leisure. Lots of good scenery too.

The route along the lake thru the park is very curvy and glutted with tourists and slow going this time of year, hits 15 NE of Vegas and you would backtrac a little to get back on 93 R C

.

what a waste theese guys are as well...

i was pulling my trailer through there and i had 8 chains rated at 40k with binders and 6 10k straps holding my blazer down. its my pride and joy, i do NOT want it going for a drive on its own...

you could see all of the tie downs were taught and most of them under mass tenssion... all of the "extra" ends were secured in a neat way.

they made me get out and check them all. didnt ask what was in the 10 foot shipping container on the front of the trailer...

they dont even inspect a guy with a 65 chevelle on a trailer with two nylon straps that were loose..... he was able to just go through... .

anywho, its a nice route to take and well worth the wait in my eyes...

I'm looking at a Nevada map and there's a small state route maybe 167 that looks to go around the lake and back to 93. How's this road for an RV?
