I have a 1998 12 valve, 5 speed. I have a #10 TST plate slide forward, AFC spring kit, 3000 GSK, 60lb valve springs, BHAF, 4" downpipe to 5" stacks, and a PDR HX-40 turbo. My question is, I am thinking about getting laser cut delivery valves, and wondering how much it will give me, or would I be better off getting injectors first? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks!

I think you would be happy with your 181s that you have and a good set of inj. I had full cuts and 370s on another truck with a 215 pump lots of smoke. I hope you have a good clutch if you do both inj and full cuts. Or something better than stock if you do ethier or for that matter.

I have laser cut DV's and let me just say I do not think your HX40 will last very long with them. Laser cuts make a LOT of boost on little chargers, I accidently saw 50psi on my stock HX35/12cm shortly after installing them!

Start out with a set of 370 injectors since your still running stockers (from your post), but don't buy a EBay set of 370's. EBay 370's are just a set of 370 injectors thrown together for an auction. If you want a good set of 370's purchase a set from PDR because they are pop tested to be a matched set. I had bosch 300 injectors a long time ago, upgraded to PDR 370's and had less smoke and more power! ;)

I used to run LC in mine with the current setup. Didn't notice any power out of them. Just more low end smoke. I'm much happier with 191s. Would have gone back to stock but the person I traded with only had 191s. Get injectors, I'm sure you'd see more power with those.

Just my . 02 cents

Schied told me to put their regular dv's, not the laser cuts, so i did, they said the lc are more for full race pumps. And i am easily getting 450cc of of fuel through my pump, but their dv's are big, even the non cut ones. Just a thought to try and save you some money.

I was thinking about a set of 191's, but now I don't think I will. With my setup, EGTs are manageable, power is great, and I'm not belching smoke all the time. Stick some 370's in there, and then if you still want more go with dv's. But I think that you'll be happy with just the injectors... with that turbo at least.

Here are before and after videos:

Stock injectors & DV's here

Laser Cuts here

Thats the only change between those 2 videos.

Within 2 days of installing the laser cuts I blew up my hx40.

I put a set of half cuts in mine and it made a considerable difference. Not quite like Garrets, but it picked up a lot. Only if you got the turbo to do it though.

So what did the seat of the pants meter tell you for power gain on the street. That vis is one of the best explanations I've seen for fuel gain, wish everyone could do it.

Makes me want to try some bigger DV's just to see what happens.

laser cuts aren't really good for street use, are they? Seems kinda smokey to me... :D I'm about to upgrade to 191s so I'm excited to see what they bring...

The shoulder on the 181 DV is . 090"

131 DV is . 080"

Half cuts . 022"

So they are a little more than half cuts. I think thats the name for them.

I think that I am going to take them out for the street. They are fun, but the mileage loss isnt, and all the extra smoke too.
