Wife is thinking about a new truck, what are the best guesstimates on a December 2005 made dodge. White, quad cab, DRW, 4x4, NV 5600, 93,000 miles. Truck is mint condition, inside and out. Transfer flow, E brake, high idle, leather, loaded, nav, sunroof. The only thing we could not get at time was the adjustable pedals. Is there any demand for the 5. 9's and the new venture transmission?

Thanks for the input

That is a unique truck with relatively low miles.
What makes it uniques is that it is fully loaded, with the EB and has the NV5600, instaed of the less robust G56.
If the engine has not been modified for more power and it has been well maintained, you should be able to get an excellent asking price or more for it. 3rd gen Dodge rama are in very high demand right now as many people like them more then the 4th gen rams.

My question is WHY bother selling it... the new trucks are nice, of course, but you suffer mpg to drive them as well as pay a very prety penny for them. 100k is less then 1/3 of the lifespan of the cummins in your truck.

Not only is this a great truck that you have but you need to consider that the 6. 7L engine will have less fuel mileage then your current 5. 9L engine gets.

The other item too consider is that you live in the Land of Fruits & Nuts and they try to control your entire life. So no mods will be allowed to the engine or ECM unless you have a certificate from CARB on the product. So there is no way to improve your fuel mileage in your state.

I'll never give up my 05 with a 5. 9 and an NV5600 with low mileage.

May be worth up to $25K.

If the truck has not been smoked in, I'd pay somewhere in the range of 25/30K. The 3rd gens that are well maintained and unmolested command a premium price.

There are alot of these trucks on the market, but most have had mods done to them, like mine. Unless I personally knew the person and the vehicle, I would not touch one of those with modifications, That's just me. Appears you have a winner, I'd think twice about replacing... Jess

Thats pretty interesting JL, because the 03-06's in cali are still bringing about 23-25 just for run of the mill autos and even the 5spds of early yrs, so basically about a 5k premium. What is considered modded anymore? We have an edge attitude that was never run beyond 2 and an afe intake bone stock otherwise.

I was just stating what I would pay if I was in the market, I really do not know their actual value.

In both 2009 and 2010 at a popular NW Diesel event, I had the same individual offer me 30k for my 03, both events. I paid 32k new, but have spent an easy 10k in upgrades.

You may ask 35k for your truck and the right buyer may be pleased as punch to acquire it at that price. I did not sell my truck because I KNOW I could not replace it, I like my truck so well that I would not trade it "even up" for a new 4th gen.

Here's a pic of my 03, I am very proud of it! Looks even better now with Montana Plates.

Looks like a Beauty! Absolutely ask top dollar.

I like your trailer too, wish I would have went that route, versus the 5th wheel toybox, could have removed the stalls and the ATV's would have been plenty happy.

nice thing about a horse trailer is the roof is aluminum not the rubber roof on 5'ers, we have no problem keeping it outside. Of course we are in the valley so it doesn't get to hot or cold, truck goes in the garage though. Thank you

GORGEOUS truck JJ. I'm looking at new wheel/tire options for my 03, the stockers just aren't cutting it anymore, and that setup looks perfect.

Brandon, the dually looks very nice, if you decide to get rid of it, start in the low 30's. Last time I was considering a new truck, used ones were trading for what I could get a new one for, in the 35k range (I got employee discount from my old work, got a cool 8 or 9k off my 07;)). That would have been 09 though (man has it been that long?).

There is a 2010 used local at the dealer for 43k:eek:

Are you sure it is a NV5600 truck? Being built in late 05 or is that Dec 2004 for the 05 MY, it should have the G56 if built in Dec 2005. In 05 the early builds ran out of the NV5600's and the G56 had issues so Dodge put a hold on manual transmissions until the bugs were worked out.

As to your question on its value, look at my sig. My brother managed to get a loan for 26K on my 04. 5, but that was an SLT and 70K miles. Now you know if the bank will give a loan for 26K, they know its worth more. BTW I sold it to him for 19. 5K I think, but he had to payoff his 03 2500 4X4 Hemi.

That's what I was about to ask. Dec 05 was both MY06 and G56. My Dad's MY06 was built in Sep 05 and has a G56. They won't build MY05 after MY06 production has begun.

Thank you for the compliment Stroke. I purchased the wheels online at wheelsforless.com out of Kennebell,TX. lugs, center caps, valve stems all included, it was Christmas time so they also did free shipping. I just pulled the invoice $743. 20 on 11/23/03.

I was on their site awhile back, they no longer showed American Eagles, but they did show Eagle Alloys, that appear to be the same wheel. I believe a member on here HHhuntitall may be a dealer for Eagle Alloy. Jess

shoot musta been dec 04, I havent looked at in so long, it makes sense that I am wrong. Dont let my wife read this she will write it down. Man time sure flys.

Go to Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book and put in the options. Should get you close to a value. Then you'll have to search the local market to see what similar vehicles are actually being sold for.

I think there is a certain demand for 5. 9's and manual transmission trucks. A buddy of mine, who is an auto broker, asked me if I'd like to sell mine because he has a client looking for a 5. 9, manual transmission truck. They seem to be hard to come by-especially nice ones. I told him I would sell it for enough money, but nobody in their right mind would pay what I would sell it for. It's dialed in just right and it would cost me $50k to get a new one and set it up the way I have mine set up.

When my son was looking for one, all we could find were trucks that were used hard-in other words-BEAT. He ended up finding a nice truck that he liked, but had to "settle" for an automatic.
