SlowKwurts B 1 Bomber

Finally back on the rd. I'm pulling a 33' King of the Road, GCVW 23K. Going W. out of Salina,Ks. , there some 5 to 6+% grades, 1+mi. long. S/W wind 15-20mph. I got it to 1300* with the Comp on 5, boost 45#. Comp. on 4, WOT held 1200*, 40# boost, would not go past 1200. This is with the stock airbox, w/ the "Brandon" holes taped shut,(sorry Brandon) and Amsoil air filter. Did not budge the filter minder. This is at least 100* less than w/BHAF. Man, this makes towing fun!! I'm ready for DDII's! I've never been able to tow in 4 or 5 like this before. I really don't think 5 was meant for towing anyway, but now, put it on 3 or 4 and GO!! I'm headed for Temple, Tx. in the morn. , so if anyone wants to see this, I'll be glad to show them. Don't have to del. til Mon. , so won't be rushed for time. My cel#is, 785-658-5734, please not to just chat, let me know where to get off(exit #) and I'll meet you.

If anyone wants one of the B 1's, they better get it ordered, Kwurt said he wants to get some ordered before his price goes up in Feb. , he said some of the parts are going up 200+ buckeroos. Hope this helps some of you.

Larry

If the price goes up any more, I am out for sure. Piers will get my business. I don't care what they cost Kurt, 1700 bucks is madness. No turbo I have ever seen, INCLUDING a garret/airesearch tv 75/11 (friggin HUGE turbo I have sitting on my dresser), costs ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THAT!!!!  #@$%! #@$%!

If I am going to spend that kind of money, IT WILL BE ON TWINS!!!!!

canderson

you sure do seem to ***** a lot. :{

this turbo is spendy but it does what kurt says it will. last time i looked the going rate for a twin setup is around $4k. i think this turbo is great and would buy it again in a second. try buying a hotrod turbo or supercharger for a gasser at around $3k. i think we forget how lucky we are.

Whatever!! Every trubo I have ever seen costs less than $1k! Piers's turbo is less than that WITH THE DOWNPIPE!! I am still #@$%! What the heck justifies that price?! IT IS STILL JUST A TURBO!!! Bigger shafts don't cost $$$$$$$$$. For he!!s sake, he has no competition on this, won't tell us what it is, and because of the lack of competition, can name his price. If he is selling this turbo at a fair price, then what does he have to hide by grinding the label off of it! Come on Kurt, if you're not going to spill the beans on what exactly it is, I am definetely not getting one. I think you are getting some rediculous profit margins on this one. If you weren't, then you would not be grinding the label off to keep its identity secret. I think this is a scam. There I said it. #@$%!

CAnderson, now your p1$$ing me off. saying this is a scam, you are implicating some of us that have bought the turbo!! Why don't you just buy some other turbo, and let this go. All we've heard out of you till this is lag, lag, lag. This is Sat. night, maybe you've just had too much to drink, at least I hope thats the problem!!

"There I said it"

I have no alcohol in my system, nor any other excuses that I can come up with. I apologize if I offended you. THAT WAS NOT MY INTENTION!!! All I am saying is, if Kurt has nothing to hide, why is he hiding things? Good old competition is what has made this country what it is. By grinding the ID off of the turbo, Kurt is telling me that there is something to loose by letting others know what the B1 is. Is ANYONE else doing this? I don't think so. Piers isn't grinding the numbers off of his turbos. If Kurt has nothing to hide, then let him say why he has created this "monopoly" on this turbo. I think he charging more than it is worth. If not, then he would not have anything to loose by revealing its identity.

Ya,,,well, I didn't have any alcahol in my system then, but I do now, shows my weakness doesn't it. I just got home, and was tickled to death with the way my trk. was performing after all my egt problems, and your post sort of got under my skin a little. I've spent a lot of money on my trk. , and am finally getting satisfied with it. I'm not very knowlegable(sp?) about these engines, and have had to get help, and this costs, but I'm happy now, this is a good turbo, and I would have paid more for it. This is a terrific group of people, and I hope I haven't said anything wrong here, I appoligise also.

I'm going to bed, have to hit the rd. tomorrow. Goodnight John, goodnight Kwurt, goodnight Brandon, goodnight HVAC, goodnight Bill L. , goodnight all!!

Larry.

There are people who plunk down $1200+ for DD's HX without complaining too much, and considering how many HX40s that have been toasted, a $1700 B1 is less than 2 HX40s.

I haven't seen it for myself but I think DD keeps the PNs of the HX40s (or components of) classified, which I understand is a different PN than most of the other HX40s floating around out there (DD's HX40s have a very good track record compared to others). I think BD and Piers kept PNs confidential, at least during R&D, on their turbo products as well. Considering the R&D and expense invested in these turbos (or any quality BOMBs for that matter), I think these guys deserve to take home some cake. They have too much invested to jeopardize their work by telling all they know.

Vaughn,

Well said ! :)

FYI as Yogi mentioned the prices for one of the B-1's componets will increase as much as $200 in Feb. I am going to Order as many as possible before Feb 3.

All Orders I receive by that time will stay at the current prices. And there will be ready made down pipes ready soon for those Bombers that don't already have 4" down pipes.

After that date the Prices will probably go up. I doubt it will increase $200 due to the increased sales of the turbos I will be

able to shoulder some of the increases if I order in larger volumes.

Yogi, Remember think "Beuty Sleep" (Please no one call and wake him up!!) :D;)

Danelle---now whatcha gonna do with 3 pairs of boots made out of some ol'ugly bird. . he,he--they definitely won't make your truck go faster--may make you do the two step quicker though:D:D---wives just need to get educated on this that's all(yes I just ducked to avoid the fryin pan)---boots-- what I really think you meant was boost-ya just misspelled that's all and we forgive ya----

KK--you cornering the market--you ol' snake in the grass---

canderson--this is AMERICA--I can understand if you want one and can't afford it-but take it easy before ya blow a hose-----most guys try to make some money on their ventures---plus KK isn't cornering the market--you or I could do the same if we wanted to-----chris

I don't know of anyone doing what Kurt is doing with the "B1". At first, I was all right with the idea, then, after thinking about it, it seems like something isn't right with this idea. "I have an XXXXXX product, it is better than the other stuff because it is 'heavy duty'. All products similar to mine cost about 1/2 as much, and do basically the same thing. I don't want to tell you why it costs twice as much as everyone else’s XXXXXXX, because... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . , well it was my idea, and you are going to pay for the research I have done. You will just have to trust me that the price is fair because I will not tell you what you are buying to give you anything to compare it too. " Almost every turbo I have ever seen has been cheaper than a holset. The B1 is WAY MORE than a holset. I am not the trusting type. I have been before, and it has not been beneficial. No more. I question everything. Including why this "special turbo" costs WAY MORE than average.

As for being able to afford it, I can. It just means I can't afford something else. That garret turbo I bought cost 600 plus tax, NEW. It is way heavier than the B1, heavy duty is not an excuse as to why it costs so much. The first thing that comes to my mind is: the primary reason that Kurt grinds the id off of the turbo, is so nobody can see exactly what it is. For all I know, it could be some $400. 00 Garret T-4, marked up to 1500 or 1700 dollars. In the future, some one is going to find out what it is, and then we will know how much it is worth.

If you are the trusting type, and wouldn't mind paying 1700 for what could be a 400 dollar turbo, then go for it. It takes more information than what Kurt is providing to get me to part with that kind of dough. I will not buy something based ONLY on other people’s opinions when it costs that much. If I had a way of knowing that Kurt's price was fair, then I would go for it for sure. I won't just send out a check that big for ?????????. I will have to know exactly what I am buying.

canderson--if it's an off the floor model then you could be right, but I'd bet a lot of green stuff that there's some work being done on this thing and that is factored into the cost----didn't you see where he said parts were going up in cost---so that sounds to me like it's not a walk in and buy it and then slap it on turbo--if he's buying parts that don't come with the turbo then there has to be some disassembly, assembly and maybe machining work and maybe more-that stuff adds up--not to mention this turbo is proving to be flat out awesome for our trucks, unless there's a conspiracy(which there's not)---chris

CAnderson

i had a hx-40 before this i would say it's at least twice as good, so here you go. hx-40=$850*2=$1700.

the problem with the b-1 is kurts turbo guy won't even tell him what the turbo is. all i know is that it takes 3 different turbo's to make one b-1. so in that $1500 is at least some machining time. the big exhaust housing that i had was the finest machined exhuast housing i have seen, it was non-wastegated and i was told it was half the price of the turbo. the smaller housing is a dualwastegated housing that is also like nothing i've ever seen before.

the nice thing about kurts turbo guy is that he is not just a diesel guy. he plays with all turbo's from exotic cars to big blocks in his racing boat. this turbo is his favorite parts off his best turbo's. he has been doing this for 20+ years and if i were him i would keep this info to myself as well. why let someone else copy something that took you 20 years to perfect?
