its a form of smoke control. the comp was real good at that -- especially the DD flavor of it which had more agressive low boost fueling. basically, such a capability allows the enhanced fueling to ramp up slowly depending on the boost level -- so you dont' alarm the smoke police. the DD comp is actually capable of fueling less than stock-- useful of course for injectors that are bigger than stock...

Well... i think I will wait for the TST box with 150HP (why get a boat when you can have steamliner)

my main point is that - I WILL NOT BUY A BOX WITHOUT SOME SORT OF LOW BOOST FUELING... I miss my comp sooo bad. .

If tst has the torque come on sooner than the EDGE, I will go that way,

On a side note, banks guy told me the HO will thier new chip hits 840ish ft-lb torq at only 1800 rpms, not to shabby, but I will be a little leary (sp) about the banks because of past false claims

Seems I recall seeing dyno results of 140 horsepower with the volumizer... .

Cheap too... 460 bucks.

I expect there are a class of folks waiting for a reason before we put gauges on, and for whom the combination of gauges and fueling in the same box is an ideal combination. The protection afforded by EGT-monitored fueling is an outstanding contribution in my opinion. thats one of the things I'll be looking for in the Edge and the TST boxes -- the ability to monitor EGT and boost, sort of an Xmonitor with fueling. Also important to me, since I'm a tweeker by nature, is the amount of control which the user has over the box. (I'm one of those who bought a comp box for my 2nd gen, and then used it only in EZ mode). So the more control I have over the box, i. e. the configuration choices I have, the more pleased I will be.

And for the handshakers, there is no need for transmission temp; EGT and boost may be the only necessary parameters to monitor for moderate bombing. A single little box inside the cab; no need to remove a DOT registered safety device (the grab handle) to make room for gauges.

I think it will also be instructive to wait to purchase a box until we know more about the 04. 5 fueling. who knows, the box mfgs may learn something by studying the 04. 5 and that knowlege might make its way back into the 03-04. 0 boxes.

As for Edge concentrating on the Ford first, and with appologies to whomever coined this expression first, it appears that Dodge took Edge to the prom, and Edge left with a Ford.

At the end of the day, its the performance of the box that matters, but along with that, its important to me to understand the philosophy behind the algorithms. For example, Mark @ TST probably has more relavent Cummins experience than anyone, from his previous employment, so those connections are of interest to me. When Mark says he's not comfortable raising rail pressure, and that the amazing opportunities are there in timing and duration, that speaks volumes to me. So philosophically I'm closer to the TST approach because I prefer not to raise rail pressure.

that is correct, jeremy at Quadzilla said that the RACE version is 140 HP with timing, BUT 3 out of 20 truck will throw a code that has been un fix-able, close but no cigar

please correct me if I am wrong, (qzilla)

Getting it done on the CR is much more difficult than on the Chev or Ford. I honestly don't recall why and must admit I had it explained to me and have forgotten. Faced with an uphill battle on the Dodge front and knowing they gotta pay bills like anyone else I don't think you can really blame them for pushin the ford box up ahead of the Dodge box. I would do they same thing if it was my business to run. Of course I would be driving my dodge to work while working on that POS Ford stuff.

Ok i understand Edge's logic but let us know something instead of keeping us in the dark. Their website is about a useful as a tick on a dogs a$$. I think the only response i can get out of those guys is "its a great box and you will be happy when you get one"

give me a friggin break i called up TST they said we are having problems told what is was and said that they approx. 150 hp and 500ftlbs but don't quote them. that is what i like to hear let us know what he hell is going on before we start buying code throwers like quadzilla and bullydog. And then there is the volumizer?????? i have seen no one from this company post any info on this board maybe i missed it. I think i am going TST.

EDGE CREDIT FOR OUR CURRENT EZ's????

Does anyone know if edge is going to offer a credit for the current EZ for the new box if it is all in one???

TST mounted where?

I love the concept of the TST unit with the gauges built in and the egt shutdown etc... but one question... where are you going to mount that odd-sized control/gauge panel thing?!? I have yet to see an 'oem-ish' looking install of one of those... someone please prove me wrong... otherwise I'm going to have to go the seperate box/gauge route again when I get my 3G. :p

yea, thats certainly the question of the day. suggestions I've heard to date include the steering column itself, the left side of the dash below the DOT grab handle, under the dash on the knee bolster (where you might mount an edge comp, for example). The more creative suggestions call for some custom work to utilize one of those compartments in the dash. Or mounted on the overhead computer -- with wires going into the head liner and down the pillar into the engine compartment.

I've alwasys been a fan of the in-cab box, even though this is nothing more than a remote control -- its very small. I could imagine a brake controller on the right side of the column, on the knee bolster, and a fueling box remote on the left side.

There were some guys who very creatively mounted the edge comp box in the ash tray itself. That may have some merit here as weall. the bonus is that you get to shut the door on it, so when you're not in the truck it is not visible. I rather favor that approach -- it would only take some creative mounting scheme and fab work to fasten the little remote device to the plastic. then when you want to look at it, open the ash tray! I expect that, after the initial newness and excitement is over, I'll probably want to look at the box only occasionally, instead of all the time. and when you want to look, its only an ashtray away.

I had pillar mount gauges for my 02, but given that the grab handle is a DOT registered safety device, and because I like to maintain the OEM look (and gauges in the grab handle is not OEM), I tend to favor the ash tray plan, at least for now.

this is what i think they should do....

Heres what they need to do. .

They should make it so the module is in the cubby hole in the dash, then run a wire you inside the dash and make it so you number are clearly in front of you. On the dash front... . if they made it so you need to keep your eyes off the road someone could get in a accident and blame it on them, unless that is they put a warning on it when it starts up to not look at it while driving. Just my idea.

i think I will try to recess the square (if it is) box into the front dash under the windshield, like the front only will stick its face out...

hmmm. . get out the rip saw

ANOTHER IDEA

how about maybe getting it somehow to display on the radio/cd player???? that would be very stealthy. Then when you want to move the turn the radio volume knob up or down and your power setting willdo that. :--) :D i call that sleeper style

You can mount an Xmoniter and keep your grab handle. Edge told me they will be offering a credit on ez's. The big question is how much?

Me. I'm waiting on the BANKS stuff. I think they put more testing and no fluff. A little pricey but I've used them in the past and it always fit, worked and the support was great.

BANKS... . :-laf..... everyone always asks me you got the Banks system on that truck? my response everytime, "hell no i work hard for my money!":D

Just to make sure it is very clear. Quadzilla and the Volumizer are world apart. We are not affiliated and they are totally different than we are.

I am testing a Bullydog box and this one throws no codes... . Lots of top end power... . Much better than the EZ on level 6 Pulls harder too. Bottem end is still a little light but with theDDII's it more than makes up for the box hitting at 2200 rms. On a hill there is nothing that can touch me. EGT's can get real hot from 90 mph up. I am looking to get a turbo now..... B1B or DD? not sure which one yet... ...
