Anyone know what the latest is on the tallest and skinnest tire that will fix on a stock 4x4 dually? I'm looking/wanting to drop my speed about 5-7 mph at 55-60 mph. I have 4. 10 gears and the Nv5600 and it just seems to really top out with rpm's at that speed in 5th gear. This is with OEM stock Generals. Don't want to go with 19. 5's but I may have to. Just had one of the Generals start separating in the tread/shoulder area this afternoon.

Oh, and no spacers and on stock wheels.

19. 5's might be you're best best. The 265's look,... ... okay but goofy. I'd go 19. 5 and have the tires that will last a lifetime.

I'm currently running BFG Mud Terrains in 255-80-R17. They're tall enough they change my speedometer about 8. 5%. Interestingly, though, they get about 1 mpg less than the 285-70-R17 Mud Terrains I ran before these. I don't know if the size makes the difference, or the difference is the old style tread compared to the new style tread.

thanks for the replies! for now I had the local tire center order BFG 255/80R17 MT KM2 tires. I went ahead and ordered 7 tires to give me a new spare as the current spare in on the drivers side front and not to mention a different size. Will post some pics when they come in and have them mounted. Can't wait to get them on!

it was tempting to go with the 19. 5's and is still an option if these don't last and hold up like I want. Main reason I don't go with them, well two reasons, is one the cost and two, the increased ride stiffness.
