I would say YES, cover everything. I used Extreme Fatmat and removed the seats, panels, carpet and headliner on my former 02 3500 QC. It worked VERY well.

I did this to my 03 3500 and 09 3500. Probably WON'T do it to our 2017 or 2019... they're pretty quiet and it is a lot of work.

Cheers, Ron

Iirc correctly from that far back the method of choice was spray on contact cement for the lead sheets that some used.

I also did mine though not with lead and covered everything I could get to and used 2 to 3 layers

A good website that came around after that with good info about what really works is sounddeadenershowdown.com. Also in that thread you referenced it might e worth looking for more posts/ threads on the subject with lsfarms input. He was a self proclaimed noise nazi and did a lot of work in regards to it

I never installed mine yet but got it from stock interiors . Com

There are some other really good posts somewhere on here from maybe 2 years back folks did a nice overview.

Need some seam rollers like below for the smaller areas to work it into the contours of the floor.

Mine is self adhesive backed as is a lot of it. But i have used the quarts of contact cement for rubber backing pads and it works really well.

I personally would not use "Lead" Sheets unless that's some sort of trade name I'm not familiar with, the rubber stuff should work just fine.

For noise reduction, maximum coverage is crucial.

If you don't believe me, just listen to the increase in decibels when you simply CRACK your window.

Mine was self-adhesive (and it's still stuck, including overhead, after 26 years) and as TimD32 suggested a small roller helps...I had a cheap little wood one already. For coverage, I think it depends on the material...a mat adhered to a panel is to damp the panel vibrating (I've seen as small as 2x4-inch strip from factory), thicker mats and carpet "soak up" noise so to speak. if I had legroom I'd love to spray a few inches of foam on my firewall;)

FYI - Located in the area between the front fenders and the bottom side kick plate of the passenger and drivers feet are packaging type inflated plastic bags. They're there to prevent engine sound from traveling from the engine bay into the cab through that opening. You can find them if you remove that side kick plate and reach in there. If for some reason those bags are not there or have been compromised, it will increase the engine noise in the cab.

Maybe its just me. Just bought a left over new 2018 Laramie. Full disclosure, previous truck a eco diesel. All else in my past a hemi.

This Cummins seems noisy. Got it one month ago, first 1k miles was 75 mph or greater, then hooked on a 8k lb toyhauler and ran it to the west coast. It never was babied. It seems I hear tappet or valve train noise.

Runs perfect, incredible tow vehicle, should have bought one years ago. Currently has approx 5k miles. Oil level perfect.

But she is a bit crude???

Wicked sorry for the late reply fellas!!! Been a busy few weeks. Thank you for the response. I’ll be getting some measurements here shortly. Hopefully before cyber Monday ends lol. I did get a carpet with mass backing, so that will certainly help things. KATOOM thanks for that little tid bit. Might just hit those holes (and the ones under the the back wide windows) with some spray foam and call it a day!

I used 80mil KilMat off of eBay. Have used it in 3 trucks now, love the stuff. Cheap, rolls out nice, sticks well. So far I have done cab floor and back of cab. Going to do the doors when I change out the speakers.

Also threw the carpet in the dumpster where it belongs and installed real flooring....

Finally finished off with some new neoprene seat covers.....

Well. After much deliberation (and taking price into consideration) I went with Noico 80mil and I’ll be putting Noico Red 150 mil on top of that. Had a 100 gift card for Amazon. Paid $131 out of pocket lol. Let’s see how it all goes!!! I’ll update here and CF. I have a lot of cleaning to do to my interior. Seal some water leaks. Clean up rust. So it’s a project. I should be starting this mid December.
