Just checked the seal its a little damp but nothing pouring out like it was so I will leave it for now and wait till it starts to really leak again before I change it out again. It may just be left over from when I installed it. I checked before I tightened up the axle nut and think i pushed the axle all the way in when I pushed the socket on pushing the machined part past the seal I know with the seal set in all the way it was close to the edge. Time will tell... ...

1 point for the router. I cant remember what I used it for last but I do remember I had to move it to search the shelf for something else I was looking for about 5 projects ago

well to be honest I was gonna BS you and tell you I used it to machine my own seals instead of admitting my garage was asuch a mess... .

Ahhh... for those if you who are subscribed to this thread and got an email with a, shall I call it strange, reply:eek: let me just say my fellow co worker who took over the keyboard when I went out for a smoke will be dealt with when he is least expecting it:eek:

it may just be leaking left over oil int eh tube from all the work you are oding. give it a few days to see if it stops leaking.

After it stops raining and snowing, sometime next week I will clean it up and see how it is. Then its time to see what going on with the leaky rear axle seal that i put a speedi sleeve on the beginning of this year and see what the hell is going on with that#@$%!

Mhannink - my right side started weeping a long time ago - like 5 years back - I was going to go the replacing the seal route until I saw what a PIA it is and "it stopped within a few days of the leak starting". I'm talking almost 70k miles ago.

So, I'd suggest if it's weeping, add some gear oil and watch it for a little while - you might get lucky - might not? Never hurts to try . . . MHO

I just finished with seals, ball joints, and u-joints. There is a roller bearing that the intermediate shaft rides on just to the left of the CAD hole. There is a inserted bushing in the passenger side axle that slide into a nub on the intermediate shaft. These are wear items and if worn too badly can affect interlock shifting. If you guys get into this, this far you might as well get the parts to replace these items. Quad 4x4 has them. Dan at Quad said the seal on the passenger side is tighter in the bore than most seals of its type. It is easy to mess up this seal pulling it in. It can be pulled into the bore until it seats on the outboard side. Check the axle seal surface to see if they are worn.
