I am sure this has been asked a million times, but please 1 more time. I have a leak, (Diesel Fuel), started this morning, that looks like it is coming from the middle of the injector pump, hidden from view between the pump & block. SMALL DRIP for now. Does this mean taking the pump to get rebuilt, or hopefully something less drastic. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Not too drastic. There is an O ring there behind that (timing piston) cover on the side of said pump.

The O ring needs to be replaced. You'd have to pull the pump to do it. With that, if the pump has some time on it and IF you plan to keep it some time, you'd want to replace ALL the O rings/seal and have the internal springs replaced as they weaken and break. Then, you pull the pump for even more work.

If your unloading this truck on some schmuck, just fix the leak and buyer beware.

If you havn't performed the dowel pin tab, then pull the engine apart and do it all.
