Want a good cover for my 5th wheel - Any suggestions?

How can you tell if you have the Charge Wizard? I have a 04 Arctic Fox camper with the Inteli-Power 40 amp converter, does that mean I have the Charge Wizard?

Well..... I see according to your post you don't leave your plugged in all the time. What? Are you scared of lightning?:p

When mine is close to an electrical outlet - as it now is, it *IS* plugged in all the time, using the timer mentioned above - but normally, it is kept parked in a different spot under a metal RV cover, and a 30 watt or so solar panel used to maintain the batteries - going on several days RV outing starting in the morning, and the 5er will be parked under that cover when we return - no, not in the least worried about lightening in EITHER parking spot! ;) :p

(hey - this is SUNNY California!)

I vote for leaving it plugged in. Our last trailer lost the fridg. and the cost of leaving it plugged in by the month was about 10 years of being plugged and running for the replacement. Also gives you another fridg. , I think the problem with the heat in the evaporation type fridges causes condensation which rust up the vent pipe and the traveling makes the rust fall down and stops the system up---------- new fridg for the correct fix. You will need to start a monthly check of the water in the battery if you do not have the right type of converter.

Or bring the batteries home and charge them where you can keep an eye on them, check their electrolite, check the balance between cells, clean any corrosion, visually check them etc.

I have a new Alfa and first time I brought the batteries home to check them found out both batteries had a bad cell. Warrantee replaced them both no questions. Would not have found it out without actually checking them with a hydrometer.

I have compared solar, wind generators, etc. I just bring them home. A whole lot cheaper. I do have a good tapering charge charger however.

dresslered,

Thanks for the link. Great price and it included the wizard. Already installed and works great. Plus it was $50. 00 cheaper than Camping World which did not include the wizard which I believe was another $30. 00.

Glen-- I have gone through three (3) Todd Engineering Power Sources, all 55 AMP's. After the dealership stopped replacing them, I attempted to take advantace of Todd's "lifetime Warranty". Attempted to call them at their number, some other company answered. Found out they are out of business, so now I am my own waranty company. My trailer was a 1999 Holiday Rambler, 28' with slide out.
