I think properly done 'blue dots' are pretty sweet... got any pics?

Thanks,

Matt

No pics right now. My tail light housings went through a miriad of experiments with different lighting. I think I'm where I want them. I drilled holes in the lenses right in front of the bulb and installed blue high intensity leds. Epoxied them in place and drilled wire access holes through the sides.

I have to buy another set of the newer tower leds I showed pics of earlier in this post to install on the lower part of the housing.

The blue led install is scrappy. My housings need replacing. I need to get a brand new or used set... 03-up if anybody has a set for sale.

Then I'll do a real precision install of the blue LED's

The effect is really good. You get the nice bright pink/purple hue just like blue dot lenses.

Thanks for posting the pictures for me ICSmoke. I'll figure it out someday. I use the clear part of the lens as the turn signals as well as the outside set of LED on the bumper. The rest are parking and brake lights. I used to have amber lights in but the red look alot better. I used the same LED that YO HOOT shows in the first page of the thread. You need to run wires from the front turn signals to the back to get this effect

I found the POWERED BY CUMMINS sticker on EBAY a few years ago. If I can find the info for it I'll PM you.

No rush, man. I'm just curious how it looks.

Wait - I thought you made a custom setup for the tail lights... ? ... then I read that you found something on eBay?? I'm easily confused... I haven't had a coffee yet! :)

Thanks,

Matt

Looks like PLeavitt is using custom LED array housings he purchased off ebay.

Than it looks as if he doesn't use the reverse lights. Instead he put the same LED wedge bulbs that I'm using in my stock housings, in the reverese light section (clear section).

Sounds like he rewired the reverse circuit to be a turn signal circuit.

What about reverse lights PLeavitt?

Nevermind I see them in your picture.

Again... . nice job!

Oh, OK. His execution of using the arrays is the exact project I started to research about 3 years ago. Man, I really need to get some of these things done! :-laf

Matt

Matt,

Those are housings made by an aftermarket tail light company that have the LED array built in. They are plug and play. The only change PLeavitt did was to use an aftermarket LED bulb like I have in mine in the clear backup light socket.

One word: NICE!! Man, if my '94 was wasn't so ugly - I'd get a set! They'd look out of place on that old beater. The Volkswagen on the other hand... ;)

Matt

The cargo lights have clear lenses and I use Super white Xenon bulbs. They appear blue and are very brite white when lite up. I also replaced all of the interior dome and map lights with this bulb.

They can be found at www.autolumination.com in the automotive bulbs -194 interior towards the bottm of the page.

I also went with the black 3rd brake light. I thought the chrome one looked too cheesy

Any hints on how to find the taillights on eBay? - specifically... which vendor did you get them from?

I just tried to bring up the eBay site and it wouldn't load. D'oh!

Matt

LED's on EBAY

The company is ACEKOGYO... . Do a search on EBAY for the year of your truck for led tail lights and it should come up.

Mike

Found it! Thanks, guys.

The 2nd Gen Dodge Ram lights are SWEET!

If they weren't so 'bling' or 'ricer' with the VW parts, I'd consider a set for the daily driver.

Matt

well they came in and Ive got em installed!!! the reverse lights are BRIGHT!!!! as well as the tail lights! woW I Like em alot!!

I ordered mine!

Placed and order yesterday... . can't wait till they come in Oo.

Where do you get those LED strips for under the tailgate?

Mike

RMecum, The long LED taillight under the tailgate can be had at Recon auto accesories. There are a couple of different ones on there. PepBoys is another possibility.

On a side note, For us 2nd gen dually owners, some of the available LED bed-side marker lamps have not only 12 or so diodes pointing straight out, but also have two diodes firing out each of the sides. Mine look pretty bright from the rear. Mike

my set is on it's way. I'd like to change over to a brighter reverse light bulb. Possibly LED? What is the number of the reverse bulb. I've searched but really didnt' find out.

RMecum

vanhorn1.com Im having a group buy on the fire and ice light bar (what you see in the pic) in the products/accessories forum

Im not sure about the led reverse light part # but if someone has it Id be interested as well

Thanks

Ian
