For those of you who are considering purchasing a Leer Legend Camper Shell for your 2014 Dodge Crew Long Beds, you may want to re-consider your choice of camper shells.
I bought a new one for my 14' and although the color match was perfect (silver) the mold that they have made is not the best fit for this model year.

After one week of driving I noticed that the shell was actually starting to rub paint off the back of my cab and was very disappointed to say the least. I returned to retailer and showed what took place. The dealer said that the Leer mold used for the 2014 Dodge long Bed was not one of their best molds.( I wish he would have said something before making my purchase). The arc on the front of the camper shell has significant rake and allows only minimal space for flex between the shell and the cab. So, I simply loosed the retaining clamps and shifted the shell back on the bed 3/8-1/2" back. The problem was taken care of yet I have a1/2" overhang off the rear of the bed now which is not really a big thing.

I had also already drilled holes for a Yakima Rack System into the shell so I could not return it. The sales rep stated that the Snug Top Brand of Camper Shells was a better fit but had a cost increase of roughly an additional $400.
This just a heads up to potential camper shell buyers with a 2014 crew cab long bed.

That doesn't sound too good, any idea to contact Leer directly?

I looked at Leer and ARE. The store that handled Leer carried a bunch of truck accessories and the whole thing was just confusing. More research, learned a bit more and selected ARE for mine. Cap real good, installing dealer seemed to be rather amateur for wiring, that's putting it mildly.

I saw a cap on a Dodge the other day, didn't see the brand, but the front angle of the cap didn't match the rear of the cab, close at the top away at the bottom.

I just put an ARE on mine. Good fit and color match but I am talking white here, so not much trouble likely with that. ARE gave me a touch up paint sample too. I bought the model that has additional height graduating from front to rear. TW series is what they call it. Good fit. I went with them because Snug Top makes solid glass doors and I wanted a metal rimmed glass door. ARE has both in various models. Lots of additional head room in this model. Time will tell if it affects my fuel mileage + or -. The MX model has a 5 inch raise in the roof from front to back and is nice looking but I like the additional room in the TW. Seems to be a good fit on the rear door but time will tell if it leaks in the rain.

I've had two ARE's and wouldn't consider anything else. Actually, Chrysler could have taken some paint lessons from ARE when I had my '95, it had a very poor paint job from the factory.

I had the same problem with two ARE shells and chose them because of their reputation as one of the best. One was twisted and wouldn't seal and the other had workmanship that was just junk. Seems that many of these require prepay to get them and had a little hassle returning mine, but the "satisfaction guaranteed" statement and potential to dispute the charges worked in my favor. I have a Tonneau cover now that works well enough. I might consider a topper again, but only if I did like my neighbor did and drove to the factory to ensure he could pick one that fit his truck right. They'll have to prove their quality before I pay for anything.
