Just wanted to give a shout out of thanks to Left Coast Diesel. They just put a Colt Big Stick Cam and an BD o/d lock out. Dropped the truck and trailer off on monday morning and picked them both up wenseday morning for a tow down to Long Beach. First thing I noticed was how quite the truck was. Second was how easy boost came on. Many others have said boost comes on quicker. I would describe it as easier with less throttle to get going. For the first drive I left the truck in the stock tune to get some feel for how things where working. First time with this trailer so no mpg data. Every trailer has a different drag coeffciant. The o/d lock out worked well it was really nice to not be forcing down shifts all the time. Left it locked out in LA traffic and drove it like a manual. Up and down the grape vine worked great. I have one complaint, the location of the indicator light. I cant see it. I need to move it to were I can see it. Should not be a big drama to move the light. Overall I am pretty happy. LCD got the job done on a tight schedule.

That's great to hear Andy. I've always had great luck with the guys at LCD for anything i've needed. Top notch group for sure. I've been looking into the cam swap as well, i'd kind of put it on the back burner but since i'm going to be going in soon for a clutch i might have them do it while the trucks down. Let us know when you have more to report on. Thanks!

It was right around 2,900 out the door. This was parts and labor including cam, springs, seals, etc, oil, oil filter, AD fuel filter, BD lock out. I asked for a oil change and new fuel filter while the truck was down. This job was a bit beyond what I was comfortable doing. If the truck was not my daily driver/tow vehicle I would have tried it myself. I just could not have the truck down for an undermined amount of time while I figured my way through it.

Was this a stg 3 Cam from colt? My truck is getting that, 125 horse injectors and a floor it cp3 installed. I hopefully should have it back this weekend. Glad to hear it worked out great for you. I've heard some stories of cam installed gone wrong.

So I drove down to San Diego from Long Beach doing about 80-85 then city driving in SD then bad traffic back up to LB then some more city driving in LB. Came out to 15mpg. I was hoping for better, but driving fast does not help and neither does city driving down here. I have a longer trip coming in the next month or so.

The fact you got up to 80-85 going from LB to SD is a miracle. :) I recently got my first ticket in 44 yrs. $287+$35 for traffic school. Watch the speed,it's not worth it. Revenue generation at it's best. :{

It's like that all over the state, you'll get ran over doing 65! I'm not advocating mass speeding tickets but man; people complain about the high cost of gas and then go 85 in there Yukon or Escalade:confused: Sorry for getting off topic. How's the cam doing? Was it worth it? Mileage gains?

Just did a small tow up to Vancouver BC. I have not yet run the numbers yet but the truck drove really nice. I am so glad to have the od lock out. There seems to be a small step just above 2k rpm where the boost jumps and the truck really takes off. Empty cruising boost is down from 4-6 to 3-5. So far so good. The really test will be on the trip back down with a bigger load.
