there are a couple ways to get the tamper-proof bolts out.

1 take a chisel and make enough of a indention/cut in the bolt head to get a flathead screwdriver in there to turn the bolt.

2 take a #20 torx (i think?) and a use a hammer to drive it into the bolt head. (never seen this done just heard about it)

Also take a small flathead screwdriver or something to scratch a small line on the AFC housing cover and the pump so you get it back in the stock place. Samething works for the plate if you plan to play with the position.

Thanks,

I'm still attempting to determine what cover to rermove.

BTW, all the covers have what appear to be rivets holding them on not screws/bolts etc.

The pump is quite difficult to access as it sets nearly inside the frame rail of a transit bus. Trust me when I say this. I had a pump replaced (VP44) under warrenty, right. The dealer charged us $700 some bucks to R&R the pump because it was on an engine setting inside of a transit bus. Read that "can't get to it, no how"

When asked why they charged the school to R&R a pump under warrenty... ... ... ... The reply... ... . "Cummins only allows us X number of hours to R&R a pump. It's not possible to do it in said time frame, so we pass the added labor charge onto the customer"

Cool huh?

I just sent you a pm. I have a picture I just took that I can send to your email. It shows the cover you need to take off.
