Off Roading Some Fun on My Polaris ATV

Hi all,

I had a local reputable tire store put on a leveling kit on the front of my dodge. It is about 2"s. I had an alignment done at the same time. Now my steering wheel is totally crooked when I am driving strait. Is there any thing that can be done to correct this problem? On my old 92 dodge, I was able to just unbolt the old steering wheel and re position it. Can this be done on an air bag steering wheel? Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Derek

On the draglink connected the steering box to the tie rod, there is a coupler that you can use to adjust the length of the draglink. By adjusting the length of the draglink, you can correct the steering wheel position.

I wouldn't recommend removing the steering shaft from the input of the box and repositioning it to straighten the wheel since it can allow the wheel to turn further than it should which could cause you to break the clockspring.

Who ever aligned your truck should have straightened your wheel. I would go back and ask them what the deal is. As mentioned above, it is pretty easy to adjust the drag link to straighten the wheel.

You would think if it was that easy, they would have taken care of it for me. I will go back and talk to them about it, it was the trucks first alignment. Anyway thanks for the info.

I would get the shop to straighten out the steering wheel at no extra cost. It should have been done in the first place.

I had a new trac bar put on a couple of months ago, and had to have an alignment. Well this time I made a comment about straightening up my wheel. They said no problem and did so!:D

All it is a collar on the tie rod arm that you have to loosen the clamps, then fold a bar back that runs through 3 clamps I believe, adjust the collar, fold bar back into place and tighten the clamps.
