I think this is a good idea and needs some more investigation. They use the same banjo connectors, and I'm pretty sure the same electrical connection. Some one needs to get one and hook it in the system and measure PSI under a variety of operating conditions. (Assuming if PSI numbers are close to the same flow measurement is then irrelevent. )
I planned on doing this, but I am waiting to find a "free" 03 lift pump of some sort.
My question is, can some one explain to me the type of pumping mechanism inside the 03 lift pump? Gears, vanes, piston and plunger, screw? The little bit of training I have had does not address this, and as we don't have the software to talk to the 03 Dodge we are not seeing them in the shop, as well as the fact most, (except the bombed ones) are still under Dodge warranty.
I will say that I have seen a couple of these lift pumps failed on our ISB"02"w/EGR product, but I don't know the circumstances or exact reason for replacement. I have not seen many of these engines in the shop either, so who knows.
