The stupidly desinged Cummins lift pump is beggining to fail on my truck. I think it has about 80K on it. I call it supid because most diesels use a gear syle lift pump and they pretty much out last the engine by far. Mine is leaking out the bottom of the gaskett where it mounts to the engine. I have one on order from Piers. It is costing about $185+ shipping. I am going on a 1200 mile trip in 9 days and I'm not sure the new pump will get here by then. I hope mine will not fail me on the trip
I am thinking about making a accumulator to dampen out the pressure spikes that this pump makes. I hope that will make it last longer. It would also make the overflow spring last longer.
