Hooked up my mechanical VDO fuel pressure gauge today.

Problem.

When first started, have 10psi few seconds later, 2psi at idle. Idle is always 2psi

less than 0 psi (suction) when driving. . always. engine stop and restart always results in a few seconds of 10psi.

I was wondering why my EGTs were 450 to 650 pre turbo. I'm only 650 at 70mph (3. 54 gears).

yet the truck is quite nimble with Superchips on medium. Mechanic just last week remarked on how well it ran.

I never do full throttle, mostly just part throttle, and really do baby it. alwasy use a cetain boost 6pts and lubricant.

Carter 4601 HP just ordered from Summit Racing.

I'll be mounting it in front of tank..... wish i already had the pump.

You will void the fuel system and possibly everything it's hooked to by cahnging the location of the pump. You are also modifying the fuel system, so technically, you are committing an EPA offense.

I getting ready to do the same thing. Warranty isn't worth much IMO as I have spent 4-6 times in the shop for an approval of one part for warranty work.

I could have done what you are about to do and saved lots of cash. Just the down time kills me!

Sounds like a dead LP for sure. You can use the stock LP and just move it back by the tank with excellent results. I now see 15 at idle, 14 cruising and 10 wot with comp and DD2's. I changed my fuel line from tank to VP with a Racor pre filter also before my pump. And got rid of all the banjos. I put some pics in reader rigs.

I went through 2 pumps prior to this move. They are Lift pumps not pull pumps. Also I have heard the new stock Carter pumps are built better than a couple years ago. Good luck with your move.
